Ellen was the name of my Great grandmother, who died when my mother was a child. She was my mother's favourite relative, because, coming from a large family, most people ignored my mom, who was meek and quiet, but Grandma Ellen adored her. When she died, my mom was heartbroken.

For a long time I thought Ellen was a pretty dull name, but now I think it might be a sweet, refreshing sight on a class roster or shouted across a playground. It seems humble, honest, and yet elegant in a very subdued way. What do you think of Ellen?

Lovely story ... but not a name I've ever taken to. Eleanor, yes. Helen, yesyesyesplease. Even Eileen, perhaps. But Ellen lacks their sparkle somehow. It's a flat-footed kind of name.

Ellen is the best name in the world! LOL
I absolutely love it and it has been my all time favorite name for more than ten years. In my opinion it is the perfect name and the name I want to use for any future daughter. My combo is Ellen Astrid Caroline.

Unfortunately it is a popular name where I am. It's been in the top 50 for several years now and I think it was #24 in 2008.

Ellen Rocks!

of 'corse I'm biased siece this is my cousin's name. I find it sweet and elegant with many nn posiblitys. Ellie (my cousin), Ella, Elle, Len, even Lena. Its simple, sweet and I can see someone at any age. I really like it, in my opinion its better than Elenore.

I like Ellen. It has such a soft, pretty sound to it. I think it has a pretty look as well.

I like Ellen Pearl, Ellen Marianne, and Winifred Ellen.

Daisy Ellen - The reverse of this, Ellen Daisy, is one of my favorite Ellen combos.

I also prefer Marigold Ellen and Rosemary Ellen the other way around.

Winifred Ellen is by far my favourite out of your combos, really. I do think Ellen is a bit boring, but the middle name really can make things more interesting. And I like it's simplicity.
