My cousin's name is Abbey Lynn (she's almost 21). It's not short for Abigail, which I like because Abigail does not fit her at all. She has a very strong, spunky personality and Abbey seems perfect for her. Abby is probably the only other spelling I like, I don't care for Abbie. And yes, I think Abbey can stand on it's on. Growing up with my cousin, it feels like an entirely different name compared to Abigail and this is coming from someone who rarely likes nicknames as full names! :)
