Welcome Leanna, Jessika, Kevin, and Cailee! You got Leanna (4), Jessika (4), Kevin (2), and Cailee (newborn)!Leanna is from Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Her teen mother tried to raise her, but lacked the financial resources to do so. She would like to remain in contact with her via letters. Leanna likes Disney princesses, especially Cinderella; playing with Barbies; playing dress-up; and generally being a 4-year-old girl. She has started to learn her alphabet and loves having stories read to her. Her mother is a nondenominational Christian and requests that her daughter be allowed to attend Sunday school weekly. Leanna has blonde hair and blue eyes.Jessika is from Lubbock, Texas. She is a paraplegic, and her family did not want to take care of her anymore. They want no contact with her. She has no other disabilities and will only require a change of wheelchair as she gets older. She is a very intelligent little girl who can already read. She loves to play with animals, especially cats, and she talks about being a teacher when she grows up. She has an older sister, Monika, who wishes to write her letters, even though her parents do not want anything to do with her. She loves going to church and reading Bible stories. Jessika has brown hair and hazel eyes.Kevin is a toddler from Natick, Massachusetts. His mother was arrested for dealing cocaine. He has some mild developmental disabilities because his mother did drugs while pregnant with him. He loves to play with blocks and put simple puzzles together. He requires patience; if he cannot figure out a task, he becomes frustrated and is prone to temper tantrums. He has black hair and blue eyes.Cailee is an infant from Bethesda, Maryland. Little is known about her. She is from a teen pregnancy and has no known disabilities. Her eyes are brown.Congratulations on your new family members, and please keep our agency updated!

UpdateYou should have seen Lacey's face when she found out she was getting 3 sisters. No more only girl.
Leanna and Lacey have bonded over Cinderella and Barbie. Lacey loves all her little sisters and loves to teach them new things. She loves taking care of people so she is very helpful with Jessika she asks to push her wheelchair all the time. All the kids are loving the new friends they have made at Sunday school. We have recently gotten Jessika her own library card. Kevin is doing good. Since Mike likes to help him with puzzles and we are looking at a Preschool program for kids with special needs but we think he someday may be in the mainstream classes. He won't start until next year. The preschool teachers say Leanna, Jessika, and Dawson together are a whirlwind but they are all a joy. Leanna is learing to read the letters from he mom with help from Lacey and Jessika. Cailee is growing so big already. She is already rolling over. All the kids love taking turns holding baby Cailee. She is doing well. We want to thank you so much for the new additions to our family. Our family is complete and even the pets have adjusted well. We can't thank you enough.
God Bless, Love,
Nick, Stacie, Mike, Hunter, Payton, Lacey, Leanna, Dawson, Jessika, Kevin, Cailee, Sadie, and Houdini.

Welcome Stefan, Luka, Sofija, and Karlo! You got Stefan, Luka, and Sofija from Serbia, and Karlo from Croatia!Stefan is 7 years old. He has brown hair and green eyes. He has mild epilepsy, which means he is prone to seizures but functions normally in nearly all circumstances. His parents and older brother Nikola were killed in shootings resulting from Serbia's fight for independence. He has been raised Eastern Orthodox and would like to continue practicing. Stefan has a wonderful sense of humor and loves to play practical jokes. He has a fantastic social sense and makes friends very easily. He speaks fluent Serbian and a small amount of English. Upon learning that he would be placed with a family in Australia, he became very excited and asked us to inform you that he has never seen a kangaroo, but very much wants to.Luka is 4 years old. He has blonde hair and blue eyes. He is hard of hearing, but with a hearing aid (that will require infrequent changing as he grows) he functions normally. He is very creative and loves to make "musical instruments" out of things in the house, meaning that he will play drums on anything you might have lying around. His mother recently died of multiple sclerosis and that left him without any other caregivers. Luka is very intelligent and has already learned to read. He misses his older siblings very much and is happy that he will have a large family around him.Sofija is 2 years old. She has no disabilities of any sort. She has brown hair and large, almond-shaped brown eyes. Her temperament is calm, and she is nearly always smiling or laughing. She has begun to talk a little bit, but obviously, her vocabulary is limited. Karlo is an infant. He has hazel eyes. He has no disabilities.Congratulations on your new family members, and please update our agency on how you're doing!

1 year later!Stefan is now an 8 year old, and in his 3rd year of Primary School. His English has improved greatly. When he first arrived in Australia, the first thing we did with him was take him to the zoo to see a Kangaroo,, he even got to pat the baby Joey'! His seizure's are becoming less frequent now, and he has adjusted well in his new life with his new parents and siblings. Luka is now a 5 year old, and has begun Kindergarden. He is one of the smartest children in his class, his teacher's have nothing but praise for him, and he has made many new friends. We got him his hearing aid, and bought him his very own set of drums. He is young, but he is receiving music lessons from a tutour. He is very happy and adjusted around his new siblings.Sofija is now 3 years old. Her vocabulary is growing, she is very talkative and energetic, and loves being the centre of attention! She gets on well with her sibling's, and she is still the same happy girl she was when she first arived in Australia. Karlo is now a 1 year old. He is now just learning to talk basic words. He is quite shy and very well behaved, but he too has adjusted to his new surrounding's,The whole family is planning a trip to Serbia & Croatia later in the year, so the children can hold onto their sense of cultural identity, and everyone is very much looking forward to it!

Welcome Yesfir, Aleksandr, Maja, Nicolaas, Iosif, and Zoja!!You got six children from Eastern Europe!Yesfir is 7 years old. She is from Moscow, Russia. Her father, an American expatriate, was shot and killed in the city, and her mother could not afford to keep her. Yesfir requests to keep in contact with her sister Rahil, who is 13 and has been placed with a family in Cincinnati, Ohio. She speaks both Russian and English. She has been raised in a religious Jewish household and sobbed with happiness when she learned she would be placed with an Israeli-American family. She has led a sheltered lifestyle and as such, is not accustomed to a social life. She loves cats and would like a kitten of her own someday. She has dark brown, curly hair and golden-brown eyes.Aleksandr is also 7. He comes from Brest, Belarus. He has grown up speaking Yiddish and Russian. He knows no English and cannot read the alphabet (he can only read and write in Russian). His family is more culturally Jewish than religiously, as Belarus is predominantly Orthodox Christian. Alek has grown up in an orphanage, so he has a great talent for making friends with children with disabilities and emotional issues. He is outgoing and friendly and very athletic. He has curly brown hair and heterochromia; his left eye is green and his right blue.Maja is from Slovenia. She is 5 years old. She has blonde hair and blue eyes. She was not raised Jewish, but she was not raised with any religion, so she can learn. She speaks English and Slovenian. She was found abandoned as a baby and a woman named Liljana took her in. However, her resources were not plentiful, and she has to give her up. She requests to remain in contact with Maja. Maja is a little slow intellectually, but loves to draw and play with other children. She loves having stories read to her. She also loves music and dance, and she would like to dance ballet when she comes to New York.Nicolaas, who goes by Niek, is from Maastricht, the Netherlands. He is 3 years old. He is very shy and withdrawn, being the youngest in an abusive family of 7 children. He likes to sing to himself and chew his fingers. He has a hard time meeting new people, but will flourish, given individual attention. His family is ethnically Jewish, but his religious upbringing has not been strict. He speaks the beginnings of Dutch, English, and Hebrew. He has light brown hair and blue eyes.

1 year laterSo far we have been having a fabulous time with our new family, and we plan on keeping the good times rolling. When we picked up the children, we decided to go West to East. After a long-haul 8 hour flight we arrived in Amsterdam and went to a hotel, for the night. The next morning we woke up late. After brunch we ventured to Maastricht and walked around, waiting for our hearing. After we got approved we hurried over to the orphanage where Nick was. At first he was a little bit concerned seeing as we were two strange adults and two strange children. Soon Tali began conversing with him and before we knew it he was holding her hand, still quiet. It was kind of funny because Tali has always been the louder one, so naturally I would have assumed it would be Ella who broke the silent spell. Nope. She was shy. By the end of the afternoon the three of them were skipping down the avenue together. We spent two more days in the Netherlands (both stormy) before we flew to Slovenia. The day we flew was suprisingly clear, for Amsterdam, and Nick was nervous as it was his first time on an airplane. We arrived in Slovenia midday and went to get Maya. We didn't need a hearing here. When Maya saw us she ran and threw her arms around us, obviously excited. She seemed to be alot more like Tali, than Ella. Once again the children happily walked together and three days later we headed to Hungary, but not before we visited Liljana and thanked her for her kindness. We got to Hungary at 8pm and everyone was tired. Nick, Ella, and Tali were sleepily stumbling after me, but Maya was asleep and Yoav carried her. That night I went by myself to pick up Zoe. When Zoe first saw me she was ok with me wanting to be near her but when I picked her up she began to scream! Eventually she calmed down and fell asleep and I took her to meet the rest of her family. The day after the next we flew to Belarus. We got there in the afternoon and hurried to get Alex.

Welcome Jubilee, Antonia, Nicolas, and Jean-Paul!You have received three Haitian orphans whose parents died in the recent earthquake and a young girl from Guatemala.Jubilee is 6 years old. Jean-Paul is her baby brother. He is an infant, so we don't know much about him. Both Jubilee and Jean-Paul are HIV positive, since their mother had AIDS when she gave birth to them. Jubilee has short hair. She is shy and chews on her hands a lot. She loves to play with dolls and animals. She has not started school, since her family was too impoverished to provide that for her. She is illiterate. She is malnourished and needs to be fed accordingly. Jubilee and Jean-Paul were raised in a French-Creole-speaking household.Nicolas is 3 years old. He is a very bubbly child who gets into a lot of trouble if he is not constantly watched. He came from a family of nine children, so he is used to a lot of hustle and bustle. If that is not present, he will create it. Not much is known about his passions or talents, as he was born to an impoverished mother in Port-Au-Prince.Antonia is from Cobán, Guatemala. She is 7 years old. Her ethnic makeup is half-Mayan, half-Hispanic. She has thick black hair and very dark eyes. She has hemophilia, and so she requires frequent blood transfusions. She cannot read or write. She speaks Spanish and was raised Catholic. She is very kind and relates well to younger children and animals. Congratulations and keep us updated!

Two years later, Andrei, Jubilee and Antonia have all started school together. Andrei enjoys the numbers and telling time, while Antonia is most happy when she is painting and drawing or playing with the dogs. She and Sebastian have bonded especially. Because of her hemophilia, she can't take dance classes with Jubilee, or "Lee" as everyone calls her (the nickname came about because Jean Paul couldn't say her full name). Both girls speak French fluently now, Lee with a slight Creole accent. Natalia worked with Antonia in Spanish and French until she understood it. They have picked up some Hebrew words from visits to Israel, and basic English from school.Nicolas, Sebastian, and Jean Paul all go to a local daycare while the three older children are in school. Both Nicolas and Sebastian love to play football (soccer) with their dad, and go to the park on summer nights. Natalia and Ben found out that Nicolas' older brother George was adopted by a family in Paris. George writes to them and they write back with what Nicolas wants to say. Jean Paul is just a very happy 2 year old, not much trouble, and full of laughter. They will be joined by another sister in a few months, who Ben and Natalia plan to name Elena Cateline.

Welcome Lucinda, Matthew, Theodore, and Catherine! You got Lucinda, Matthew, Theodore, and Catherine! Lucinda is from Bath, England; Matthew and Catherine are from Cardiff, Wales; and Theodore is from Chevy Chase, Maryland.Lucinda "Lucy" Emmeline is 16 years old. Her single father was arrested for assault, so he put her up for adoption. She is very tall -- 5'11 -- with long brown hair and huge grey eyes. She has a wide smile and hopes to be a model. She loves to study science, and says that if she can't model, she would like to become a dermatologist. She is very attached to her friends from home and would like to keep in contact with them. She has no disabilities, although her father's alcoholism and abusive manner have led her to be very wary of all males. She may need therapy to help her in this regard.Matthew Dafydd and Catherine Ffraid are twins, aged 14. They have brown hair and brown eyes. Matthew has no disabilities, but Catherine has Asperger's syndrome. She requires a lot of help in social situations. Both of them are very intelligent, and they are both extremely gifted at playing piano. They hope to continue lessons in the States. They speak English and Welsh, although Welsh was their first language and they will speak it between them. Matthew is very good at math and science, as is Catherine, although she is remarkably good with computers. Theodore is 17 years old. He became legally emancipated from his parents, who did not support him after he and his girlfriend, Alyssa, got pregnant. Alyssa also lives in Chevy Chase, and she takes care of their son Hunter. Theodore would like very much to continue to visit Hunter and Alyssa while he lives in your house. He has been accepted with a full scholarship to the University of Maryland, and he will attend next year as an economics major. He hopes to get an MBA and start his own business. He does well in school and, aside from becoming a teen father, is a very well-adjusted boy.Congratulations on your new family members. Keep our agency updated!

She has no disabilities, but is rebellious. What she needs is a family who will really make her feel special for who she is. She was raised in a family of 11 children, and she longs for her own place in a household. She is a talented singer and hopes to take voice lessons. She loves hanging out with friends and is very social. She will need extra help in school. You also have a newborn baby boy with no name. Elena's family found where she was and they sent her a few letters but she refused to open them. Sometimes she misses her siblings but she haven't forgiven her parents. She still hangs out with most of her old friends and she also made many new friends at her new school. She is very popular but sometimes she can be mean. She took voice lessons for almost 2 years and hopes to become an opera singer. At school, she's very good at maths but she dislikes all the other subjects. Evan and Monica help her as much as they can and her grades are above average.
Her relationship with the other members of the family is very good. She loves and respects Evan and Monica even if they fight sometimes and she loves to play and read to Audrey and Kieran and spend time with Sofia.Evan and Monica decided to name their baby boy Kieran Michael after their fathers. He has dark hair and blue-gray eyes. Kieran loves to listen to any kind of music and play with Chloe and Audrey.

Welcome June and Rebecca! You have been given June and Rebecca! The two girls are sisters from Liverpool, England. Their parents were shot and killed in a random attack.June is 5 years old. She has auburn hair and brown eyes. She is mildly autistic, but is able to interact with others on only a mildly limited basis. She loves gardening, and she draws lots of pictures of flowers and trees. Plants are definitely her passion. She loves to play with Rebecca and treats her like a daughter. She takes patience, as her autism makes her slightly prone to temper tantrums, and she is a little slow to learn, but she works hard.Rebecca is 3 years old. She has auburn hair and green eyes. She is free of any disability of any sort. She is a very happy toddler girl who often gets herself into mischief and requires constant supervision. She loves to draw with June, and she especially loves painting with watercolors. She builds towers out of anything you have lying around, and she would love a set of building blocks. She is very precocious, and you might want to consider starting her at school early.Congratulations on your new daughters! Please keep us updated.

Two years later! It has been two years since June and Rebecca came into our lives. The first few months with the girls were difficult and they would wake up and cry for their parents, and June would throw temper tantrums, but after awhile they adjusted to the new environment and fit in quite well at home. June is now seven and thriving in 2nd grade! She gets along with classmates, friends and teachers and she is advanced in her class. She is a bit awkward around stangers however. June and I tend a large garden and she chooses what to plant every spring and tends to the garden every day. Rebecca is now 5 and in 1st grade! She is a bright, outgoing girl with many friends and despite being a year younger she is at the top of her class! She enjoys the watercolors and tub of building blocks we bought after she arrived and dreams of becoming an arcitect in the future. Both girls maintain an excellent relationship with big brother Chance and enjoys his regular visits. We thank your agency so very much for giving us these beautiful and bright daughters. Thanks,Jana, Oliver, Chance, June and Rebecca

Welcome Ira and Mary Katharine! You got Ira and Mary Katharine!Ira George is 10 years old. He comes from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He has been put up for adoption because his parents were abusive. He suffers from mild PTSD as a result of his home life, but is very sweet and kind. He loves to read, especially history books. He keeps in contact with various pen pals around the world. He would like to keep in contact with his older sister Susan, who went to a family in Edina, Minnesota. He hopes that his new family will take him out to eat a lot, because he really wants to try a lot of different foods.Mary Katharine is 4 years old. She comes from Goodlettsville, Tennessee. Her family was very religious and caring, but her father lost his job and the family had to give her up. Her parents request that she be taken to church, or at least Sunday school, at the nearest Methodist facility, if at all possible. She has an older sister, Sarah Beth, who wishes to write to her from her new home in Lexington, Massachusetts. Mary Katharine loves fingerpainting, flowers, and puppies. She is very talkative and laughs a lot. She hopes to start preschool soon and learn to read. Please keep us updated on your new children, and congratulations!

2 years later.Ira has adapted well to his new home. He and Tyrell often read together, and have formed a very strong bond. He continues writing letters to his sister. He has also continued writing to his pen pals, and we're thinking about letting one of his pen pals from across the pond to come and stay with us for a while.Mary is now in 1st grade, and she gets to spend more time with me. Tyrell takes her to church weekly. When Sarah writes to her, we read them out loud to her and then help her with the reply. She's having a little trouble learning how to read. Ira and Mary get along fine. They argue a lot, but they usually get over it in a few minutes.

Welcome Guillaume and Alexandre! You got Guillaume Lucas from Lille, France, and Alexandre Mathieu from Toulouse.Guillaume is 9 years old. He has no disabilities of any sort. His parents were arrested for dealing drugs, and he was removed from their care. He has curly, medium-brown hair and green eyes. He has not been raised in any particular religion. He performs above average in school, but his real talents lie in sports. He played football in a children's organization back home, and wishes to continue doing so. Upon hearing that his new "uncle" is a football fan, he became very excited. His favorite subject in school is math, but he wants to learn to speak English.Alexandre is 8 years old. He has no technical disability, but his past has conditioned him to be rather quiet and nervous, and his self esteem is very low. He has been in an orphanage since he was 2 years old, and has remained there because of his exceedingly quiet nature. He gets along very well with animals and girls, and so wishes to have a lot of time spent with the cats. It is likely that significant time spent with him alone will help him break out of his hardened shell. He has taken an interest in modern dance through classes offered at a nearby gym. He would like to continue dance, if at all possible. He wishes to remain in contact with the nurse, Laure, who took care of him at the orphanage, as she is the closest thing to a mother he has ever known. He is very relieved to finally have a home. He has black hair and blue eyes and is very tall for his age. The orphanage is a Catholic facility, so he has been raised in the Church and is very faithful. Please update the agency on the children, and congratulations!

Welcome Maria, Jacques, Juliette, and Baptiste! You got Maria, 15; Jacques and Juliette, 7; and Baptiste, 3.Maria Concetta is 15 years old and hails from Piacenza, Italy. Her parents died in an auto accident, and she has no living relatives. She is a devout Catholic, and hopes to become a nun. She is serious and studious, pulling excellent marks in her schoolwork, but is not very social. She speaks Italian (both Florentine and Piacentine dialects), French, and broken English. She is passionate about helping animals and wishes to be allowed to work at an animal shelter. She has shoulder-length dark brown hair, hazel eyes, and olive skin. She is 5'9 and weighs 140 pounds, with a slim build. Jacques Pierre and Juliette Oceane are twins from Bordeaux, France. The twins wish to remain in contact with their siblings. They are of average intelligence and are highly energetic and sociable. They have red hair and hazel eyes. Juliette in particular has a special interest in learning to cook, but both of them enjoy hands-on activities. They speak only French, but are young and can learn.Baptiste is 3 years old and comes from Paris, France. His mother gave him up because she married a man who did not want anything to do with her children from her ex. He has blonde hair and blue eyes. He laughs a lot and was walking and talking very early on in his development. His favorite foods are watermelon, crackers, and cheese, and he loves to eat. His mother is bilingual in French and Italian, and he was raised speaking both. She requests to remain in contact with him via letters and gifts, and also asks that he be brought up still speaking French and Italian, if possible. Please update our agency on the new children, and congratulations!

Welcome Brittany and Neal! You received Brittany Aileen and Neal Joseph from Prince Edward Island, Canada. The mother is giving them up because recent financial straits have completely destroyed her ability to take care of her children. The family is Presbyterian, but only wishes that their children be taken to church at least monthly.Brittany is 22 months, beginning to walk and talk, but has mild cerebral palsy, so her walking is weak. She is very outgoing and loves to make various objects into toys. She loves to read and play with animals, and she makes friends very easily. Her cerebral palsy will require semi-frequent doctor's visits and braces as she grows older, but it is a mild case and she should lead a nearly-normal life. Physical therapy will also help. She is small for her age. She has dishwater blonde hair and blue eyes.Neal is a newborn. His birth mother requested that their names not be changed, especially Neal's, which honors his grandfather. He has no mental, physical, or emotional disabilities and is a quiet baby with a big smile and lovely blue eyes. Please send our agency an update on the children!

Our life has been so much richer since Britt and Neal came to us! The past two years have gone by so fast! Brittany has grown into a beautiful little girl. Her hair darkened a little into a lovely golden brown, and her eyes have stayed a beautiful blue. She and Neal look very much alike. Neal's hair is the same color Brittany's was when they came to us, and he has dimples in his beautiful smile.Brittany's cerebal palsy has recently become frustrating to her, as she is in preschool and cannot run and play with her friends. Her doctor put her in leg braces just before she started preschool, and while she is able to walk without crutches she is still stiff and cannot run. She is popular with her classmates despite this, as she is funny and smart and knows a lot of hand games and board games that Sam taught her. She and Sam are quite close, and Sam will tell off any of the older kids who make fun of her little sister. Both of the girls dote upon Neal. He is a chatty and active three-year-old and loves to follow Jeremy and me around the house. He is a very happy little boy and loves to play with his sisters and his daycare friends. He and Lulu, our dog, are the best of friends, and he often will use her as a pillow when eh falls asleep on the floor. Sam and Britt are trying to teach him to read already, altough he would rather "read" to them, making up stories to go along with the pictures the way Britt did when she was younger. We have kept in contact with their mother, sending her pictures and letters every month. She has not seen them since she gave them up for adoption, but she has called them a few times. Neither of them remember her, but they do know that they were adopted and what that means. Thank you so much for giving us our two younger children!
