[Opinions] Naomi (m)

Naomi is a more well-rounded name in my opinion. It ages better, combines better, and doesn't invoke too much "Bible-thumping" connotation like Evangeline can. Evangeline is much more of a mn to me.

also weird
It's interesting that many people see Evangeline as more "religious" than the name Naomi - I think it's just the opposite. Must be because I think of Uncle Tom's Cabin Evangeline, and therefore associate it with literature, while Naomi, with her Bible story, seems more "religious" to me. Like I could totally imagine a sancitomoniously religious Naomi more than an Evangeline. Funny how the same names can strike people so differently!

I agree that Naomi is a more deeply religious name but Evangeline has such strong ties to the words "evangelist" and "evangelical" that many people make that association and consider it a negative.
Naomi's biblical roots appeal to me, but don't seem as outwardly associated as names like Evangeline and Christian.
