what do you think of the name Ruth. its obviously not a name you here on baby girls today and its a beautiful classic biblical name

I wish we did hear it! My friend has a Ruth who must be in her late 20s by now, which delighted me at the time and still does. I told my son (30) once that he might well have been Ruth had he been a she, and he was very cool with it.

Ruth is actually quite frequent in some circles, we have seen it increase in popularity a great deal in our area especially among evangelical Christians and the Amish/ Mennonite community.

I love it and am trying to think of a really nice combo where I can use it as the mn, if baby is a girl. I used a passage from Ruth in my wedding vows, so the name has special meaning.

Ruth Miranda does it for me! But, sadly, Miranda Ruth doesn't. I could live happily with Jemima Ruth; ditto Matilda or possibly Belinda. Lyndall Ruth works, too. Once I knew an Imogen Ruth, which is very wow indeed.

I like it a lot. It's a very practical, sensible name - short and with no nonsense about it! - and it's got a nice happy meaning.

I love Ruth, it's one of my favorite names. :) I'd use it as a first name. I like that it's a little uncommon but not completely unheard of.

Classic and biblical, yes, but I don't think it's beautiful. I think it's quite ugly. I don't wonder that it's not much used today.
