Help[Opinions] Anders & Johann
Both of these names are on my old favorites list. Anders is on there because it's a pretty cool family name - he's the guy who created our last name. It's been used throughout our family tree and I always wanted to use it as well.
Johann is also a family name, but not one with as much meaning and not one that was used much. I just really, really dig the name, always have.
Opinions? Thoughts?

I don't like Anders. It's very, very common here. My father has a cousin named Anders, it's my mother's boyfriends name and we all know plenty of Anders's..
I have a cousin named Johan and I know plenty of other Johan's too, it's also very common here. I prefer the Johan spelling over Johann which looks very german to me.
Maybe you like Johannes? If you do you can always use Johan/Johann or Hannes as nicknames.

I really like both of those names! They're both totally cool. I'd describe my feelings more, but my parents just got here so I've gotta go! But just also to add that I think Anders would sound really cool with your DH's last name, and my family tree also has TONS of Johanns. Like... entire families with 9 sons all named Johann something.

I love them both. I also have German heritage and think certain German names rock. Anders and Johann are two of them. IMO they're a great way to honor your heritage plus they're well-known enough to not cause the bearer any trouble (well, Johann might get called Joanne I guess, but where you live I would think people would be familiar enough with the name).

I live in a town called Anderson and have all of my life.
I never thought of Anders as a name until I got older and became a writer and was looking up names.
Oddly enough, I can separate it from the name Anderson quite easily and it seems no one else can.
I love Anders, but if I mention everyone always asks if it's because of the town. I hate the name Anderson.

great sib set! I love anders because, well, mainly I dislike Andrew alot, so Anders is the answer to that. It's a nice sounding and handsome name. Johann is also nice but seems alot less manly then Anders does...
