The author of those wonderful Moomin books! Was it her full, given name, do you know, or is it short for something? Presumably Torfrid, I suppose - looks the more feminine of your two suggestions.Thanks, Satu!

Hi Anneza,Tove was her full name - it's much more common now than the old forms of the name. She was a Finland-Swede, that's why she had a Swedish first- and surname.Satu :)

'Finland-Swede' means the Swedish-speaking minority in Finland, NOT a Swede residing in Finland. The Swedish-speaking minority means roughly a few per cent of the entire population of Finland, and it's been here for centuries.Just to clear this up :-)

Yes, Tove was the real name of Tove Jansson, the Finnish author of the Moomin books. I agree -- great work!
