Much has happened in the past three years. Ava was planning on getting married to her boyfriend, but unfortunately, Will died of drug overdose. A year later, handsome little Phil came into the world. Ava is still very sad, but she loves little Phil. She isn't in college, but she thinks she can still maybe go when Phil is a little older. Lily's best friend, Rose, introduced her to Oliver last year, and the two clicked instantly. They are going to the same college, and they like it very much. Liz thinks they might get married. Colin met Amalia when they were in the same phsycology class in their junior year of high school. They shared a love of helping others, and they both attend a college in Oxford. They plan to become phsyciatrists together when they grow up. Emma is in eighth grade, and she is very sad that she does not have a 'boyfriend' yet, since most of the girls in her grade do. She has many friends, and seems to be not very popular, but not an outcast. Kayla is doing well in school, and takes her work very seriously. Her best friend, Graciela, also takes it seriously, and the two meet up after school to do homework together. Liz decided to buy a lottery ticket just for the fun of it, and she ended up winning! The family is now very well off, which helps Ava take care of Phil without having to work. Emma decided she wanted a pet, and Charles remembered that when he was a boy he had always wanted a dog. Luckily, one of the neighbours' dogs just had puppies, and Emma had the pick of the litter. Sadie seems to enjoy chasing her tail, playing catch, and running back and forth. It is very clear to the family that Sadie likes Emma and Charles best, but they love her anyway.
