[Opinions] Goliath?
Is Goliath too much for a baby? I am sort of partial to it, but not sure. Maybe as a middle name?

Sorry to disappoint, but Goliath is not a good name, not even for a dog_________________________________________________

Sound-wise, I really like it. However, the connotations are just too strong. One can't hear the name without picturing a giant. It might be cutely ironic on a newborn. But then when he grew up ...It would be humiliating for a short or puny man to go by the name Goliath. But then, God forbid he was obese! It would be a no-win situation.Sorry :-(_____________________________________________________________________Elinor'Why do people with closed minds, always open their mouths?'

I would say it is too much for a baby. Not because I don't like the name as such, it is just a bit heavy to carry around.

YES! The Biblical character is enough to put me off the name. Plus, people use it as a word to describe things that are big. What if for some reason the child is over weight?

Only for a dog.It connotes being big and scary. What if the boy was overweight? One might as well name a child Gigantor. Also, since I'm a Jasper Fforde ffan, I immediately think of the Goliath Corporation, a corrupt, gigantic monopoly in the world of Thursday Next.I knew a very nice dog by name of Goliath, though. He was a mutt and one of his paws was paralyzed, but for a big dog, he was surprisingly non-scary. :DArray
