[Opinions] Verena
I recently met a girl by this name, it seems to be relatively common for girls in German-speaking countries. WDYT? I don't like many German names but this one's rather nice.I also once met an Italian girl named Verbena, as in the plant. I wouldn't use it (because it sounds a bit like naming someone "herb tea"), but I thought it was cute.

It makes me think of VD! Verona doesn't!

well, I work in an OB /GYN setting so maybe that's why this name looks like it's short for "venereal" If I just heard the name and couldn't see it, I would say that it's OK.

I have a weakness for girls' names that start with a V (though I don't like every single on of them) and I really like Verena. Because it was the name of Jefferson Davis' wife, it has a nineteenth century flavor for me.

I really like Verena. I think it's a pretty name.My mom has a cousin named Verena (pronounced və-REE-nə).I can't say that I like Verbena as a name, though.

I like both Verena & Verbena. You're right, Verena is moderately common with girls/women aged 10-30 here. It's not really trendy though.

I would have thought it was an Italian name, perhaps also because it makes me think of Verona. I've never heard it before.I like it too, a little less than Vera though.
