Help[Opinions] Benedict
This has become one of my top favorites and as I have a hard time coming up with boys names and hardly like any this is quite a success :P
What do you think of Benedict? Do you think the nickname Ben is inevitable? I have nothing against Ben but I'd rather just use the full form. I love the meaning of the name as well.

I knew a family who named their first son Benedict Guy - Benedict because they liked it and Guy after her father. They used the full form, but then we lost touch so what happened after he started school I don't know. Ironically, when said with their ln it sounded extremely like Benedict Arnold, but luckily they hadn't heard of him (I asked).
I would go for Benjamin rather than Benedict for family reasons, though I think I slightly prefer Benedict.

I love Benedict. It has been in my list for years. I don't like the spelling with the 'k' however, it looks a bit kr8yv to me (even though I know its not).

I'd go with Benedict. I don't know anyone with the name (being from America I bet the Benedict Arnold stigma is still lingering). I'd love to use it myself, at least as a middle name if not a first name.
Ben might be the go to nickname, but I wouldn't want that to worry you. In my experience, the nickname that sticks is the one that is used by the family. Other nicknames derived by friends will come and go. So, you can push for the no-nickname route and it should work.
I like Benjamin, but find it very common. I don't like Bennett for a boy because it reminds me of Elizabeth Bennett. I think plain Ben is too short for a first name.

Love Benedict. It's such an intelligent sounding name. Bright, sparkling and happy.
I'm with you on the nn thing. Ben is OK, but Benedict is so much better. Unfortunately, here in the Western U.S. the shortening of a name is so common that Ben would result.
