I too really enjoy
May. I think I like the down-home simpleness of
Mae even more - it seems oddly edgy and urban, like the names
Betsy and
Betty are becoming in my mind. It also helps to downplay the association of
May as a word (as in "
May I...") which I find difficult to disentangle myself from.
Maybelle /
May Belle is very sweet, almost chokingly so, which I am starting to think is a new trend these days - super over the top girly names seem to be making quite the waves. I think if you like
May +
Belle, you might as well just smush them together and go with
Maybelle nn
May. Double first names are even more saccharine-sweet to me, so it would be total overkill in my mind.
Combos!
May is a toughie, I always find I get bamboozled by one-syllable names. Let me see.

Ok now I am totally digging
May too. It is such a sweetheart of a name. Well done, you. I am really liking it paired with M and P names, there is something so fairy-light about it.
