[Opinions] Guinevere
It's time for a Guinevere conversation.I'm really loving this name today. I usually do love it, but I am really, really loving it at this moment. Opinions on this as a first name? Would you use it? 1-10? Do you have any combos?

I really do like this name and I'd like to see it used as a fn but I doubt I'd ever use it myself. It's just too much and I bit too awkward for me to ever give to a baby. I'd probably rate it as 6 or 7 out of 10. I've never thought about combos for it, sorry.

I suppose it's not that bad, but unfortunately it reminds me of an awful neighbour we had once who was the moaniest old woman in North Wales. So it's really not a favourite. I like that you could use Vera as an nn, though.

It's alright. I wouldn't use it, because it seems too pretentious to me. The other reason I wouldn't use it would be that I'd be afraid she'd be called Gwen for short.

I'd encourage the nickname Vera.

Guinevere is a little froofy, even for me. Well, maybe it's just not the kind of froof I usually like, because as I'm sure you've noticed, I like some pretty ridiculous things. BUT, I would still think it was all kinds of cool if I met a Guinevere. I'd give it a solid 8, because I enjoy it but have no designs on using it myself.

It has a beautiful sound, and one of my favourite names is Gwen on its own. I personally wouldn't use it, I'm not generally fond of long first names and this name for me is quite pretentious. Also to be associated with a literary character, who in later versions of the myth, has become synonymous with adultery. But I met a young Ophelia the other day, and she pulled it off rather well, and Guinevere has more NN options.Guinevere Adele
Guinevere Beatrice
Guinevere Charlotte
Guinevere Rachel
Guinevere Mary
Guinevere Helen /a
Guinevere Miranda
Guinevere Lucy
Guinevere Claudia
Guinevere Julia
Guinevere Alexandra
Guinevere Lily
Guinevere Cassandra (my combo is Gwen Cassandra)
Guinevere Isabel An old combo of mine was Rose Guinevere. I liked how simple and pretty Rose had the long Guinevere behind her.

I have a thing for Arthurian names, so naturally I like Guinevere. And that bonus aside, it is incredibly elegant and strong and subtly passionate. It makes me picture some beautiful medieval-fantasy maiden standing in the wind. I used to always think it seemed too over-the-top for use in real life, but in the last year or so I've begun to change my mind. I would consider using it, and I'd probably rate it a 9.5. I have to subtract .5 from it still feeling a bit too typecast.I don't have any combos with it as a fn, but I think Eloise Guinevere is a gorgeous combo. I like it as a mn a bit more becuase then you still get all the awesomeness, but the over-the-top-ness is toned way down.
