[Opinions] Kelly on a boy?
Just read the BA for an old school friend. She already has a daughter named Ella, and has just named her son Kelly Joseph.I think its horrible. I can honestly say, I have never met a boy Kelly, but know dozens of girl Kelly's. I am so disappointed and sorry for that little man! What do you think?

I actually think Kelly fits a boy much better than a girl. I really don't like it for girls.

I like it, butnot next to Ella, too much really strong ell.But I'll totally take how similar they are, because I love names like Kelly on a boy.

But I love Kelly on a boy and, although I've met a few female Kelly's, I always think of Kelly as a masculine name.

Kelly Joseph flows nicely. I've met two male Kellys, so I can imagine it on a boy. On its own, I think it's fine. Ella and Kelly are too similar for siblings though.

I have an uncle KellyShort for Kelvin. I actually really like Kelly on a boy, even if I don't like my uncle so much. It has a real rapscallion vibe. I think it's boring and tired on a girl. Kelly Joseph is really handsome. I'm not disappointed for him at all. Hooray boy Kelly! Although Kelly and Ella is a little...well no, I guess it works. Llotsa Lls is allll.

I LOVE it.
I honestly really respect any parent who uses a name that is considered "girly" on a boy. It is kind of like spitting in the face of all the stupid naming trends of today. Who needs name trends anyway? I think Kelly Joseph is AWESOME.It was a boy name first and just because it has been used to death by the girls is no reason not to use it on a boy. I am proud of her for not letting the rest of the thieving namers in society influence her on this.ETA:
Also, I used to know a boy named Kelly and even when I asked him he said he’d never minded having a name that was used by more girls. He said that nobody looked at him and thought he was a girl so it was all good to him.
We used to have a Kelly on the boards here too and he loved his name.

I like it a lot! Much better than on a girl. I think it has a more masculine than feminine feel, not that I mind it on a girl.Kelly Joseph is a great combo. I like it paired with something obviously masculine. I really like the double first name of John Kelly ever since someone here mentioned knowing someone with that name a long time ago.

I don't mind it on a boy. I do prefer it on a girl but for a boy it isn't bad. Have you heard of Kelly Slater?

I taught a boy Kelly once: good kid. Fine public speaker. I don't think Ella and Kelly make a particularly harmonious sibset, but nor do I think of Kelly as exclusively fem.

Well, for me it's not so much that it's a boy as that Ella and Kelly are way too similar for siblings....

I know, I keep saying Kella and Elly.

It's not something I would use myself, but I do like to see it used on boys. I actually know two, one Kelly and one Kelley.

I like Kelly for a boy. I don't like the sibset though, they're pretty similar.
