Avery is gorgeous on a boy.
I've personally never even met a single girl named Avery, but I have met a few boys with the name over the years.
It's not really feminine sounding at all and it's a surname as well which isn't gender specific.
I say to go ahead and use it! Don't let someone else using it for their daughter scare you away from using it for your son. It's a perfectly nice name and doesn't need to be given up on for boys at all. I'd be very happy to meet a little boy Avery any day. :)
