[Opinions] Cristina or Caterina
Replies
Caterina is more interesting and unexpected, though I love the crisp, tinkling sound of Cristina. Christina was a very common name in the era I gre up in though, so Caterina is definitely fresher and more appealing.
I think I might enjoy the spelling Catarina a bit more, because the spelleing Caterina makes me want to say "cadder-eena" rather than the proper and sharper "catta-reena", but regardless, Caterina is very nice. It seems alert, genteel and fiendly, like a warm hostess at a party in a beautiful old manor. Is Catarina not an accepted spelling where you are?

Caterina (as well as the Katerina spelling) is one of my all-time favorite names. I like Cristina too but something about Caterina gets to me. I find it spunky yet endlessly elegant, totally feminine yet strong at the same time. It's also more interesting than Cristina. Love the nn Cat too. I'm curious, what sort of nns does Caterina have in Italy?
