I think Benjamin is dull.

Basil, how very English!
And did you ever watch The Great Mouse Detective as a kid (BEST MOVIE EVER!)? The hero's name is Basil. Benjamin is a good name too — it makes me think of Ben Franklin — but Basil has more character.

Benjamin is so boring I just might fall asleep on my computer keyboard.
Basil and Felix would be all kinds of awesome for brothers.

Well, I really like Ben, so I think I'll vote Benjamin. Based on the full names I like Basil better, but I've had/known a lot of pets named Basil so it doesn't seem useable as a human name to me anymore...
Benjamin
Basil! It's so much more interesting and sounds nicer too.

Basil. There are so many Benjamins around... I'm utterly bored with it. I would be so excited to meet a Basil, though!
Basil! It's more interesting than Benjamin. I'd like to meet a little Basil.
Benjamin
While Basil is charming, I find it a tad bit pretentious. I also don't really like the inevitable nn of Bas/Baz. Benjamin is such a handsome and strong name, you really can't go wrong with it.

I prefer Basil.
But I love Benjamin (nn Ben) as well.
