I like both...Both are really nice names. I could see Asher becoming more popular though so if you are looking for something that is uncommon I'd say go with Asa.

Asa reminds me of lions. Asher reminds me of trees. Lions are definitely cooler.:)

Why is that?I am reminded of lions with the name Asa too. Is there a reason for that, I wonder? I can't figure out where I got that association.

That might be it.I Googled 'Asa' and 'lion' together before that post, but I didn't get an obvious answer (and I didn't feel like going through and looking at the results more thoroughly).

Asher, because Asa reminds me too much of Åsa which is a girls name here. Asa also sounds like a nickname for something. You could always use Asher nn Asa..
