I prefer Caroline, but love both.

Charlotte. Caroline is also nice, but Charlotte wins because of Lottie.

Caroline. Charlotte looks pretty but sounds awful.

You cruel, cruel person. These names are really at a tie. I cannot choose.

CharlotteCharlotte seems more "me" than Caroline. Caroline is too...rich. Charlotte is fluffier, and I am nothing if not fluffy.

Charlotte. Both can be very regal and elegant, but Charlotte can also be down-to-earth while Caroline simply remains rather snooty.

I know sisters named Caroline and Charlotte! Charlotte is often called Lotte.I prefer Charlotte. The pronunciation is clear (no -lyn versus -line as in Caroline) and you get the nicknames Lotte, Lottie and Charlie which I love.

I really like Charlotte but I absolutely prefer Caroline.

I have been mulling over those for a few years now and I have yet to make a real decision. I love both of them. Today I am liking Caroline better because I adore the French pronunciation, but tomorrow I could like Charlotte more.

Although I have a postive association with Caroline, I slightly prefer Charlotte.

Charlotte (and half this board will be saying it along with me; the other half are blocking their ears) not only rhymes with 'harlot', it contains it. Not good. I don't enjoy the rather harsh sound of it either, though its popularity shows that many people do.Caroline on the other hand is extremely beautiful, in sound, rhythm and appearance. It can attract unfortunate nns like Lina, but it mostly doesn't, retaining its elegance and charm in all surroundings. It doesn't date, either: it's always been in use but never a chart-topper. Oh, yes!

Charlotte for me.

I love both, but I like Charlotte, a little bit more.

Definitely Charlotte! I have a bad association with, Caroline!

I love both but they conjure very different images for me. I could imagine having both on a final list for a baby girl and having to wait to see her to make a final decision. Caroline is very no nonsense and can be either spunky (with the nn Caro for example) or sweet and girly (with nn Callie). Charlotte is one of my all time favourite girls names- super feminine, strong and regal.I think I'd pick Charlotte if pushed to decide, just because it was one of my first name loves and I'm a bit sentimental like that.

Each have something sweet and charming about them. I think I prefere the sound of Charlotte to Caroline, but I love both.

Charlotte. I've been liking the idea of Lottie as a nickname.

I far prefer Caroline, which has a smart, crisp feel, to dowdy frumpy Charlotte.

Charlotte, definitely. Caroline is too 'southern' for me. Charlotte sounds classic.
