Message: "Ronja" - Behind the Name

I really like Ronja, what do you think of it?

It says on this page that it was invented by an author but I did some research and it seems to have been used way before her book was released. I also know a Ronja who was born in the 60s, she's from Israel and she says she knows another girl from there who spells it Roniya and another who spells it Ronia (all pr. RON-ya) which supports the theory that it is related to the Hebrew name Roni (I once asked on the name facts board and someone found Ronia, Roniya, Ronja in a Hebrew baby name book).

Hmm I don't know but would Ronja nn Roni work? I think it's sweet. Pronounced RON-ya.

Opinions? Which middle name would you use? So far I have:

Ronja Sofia
Ronja Cecilia
Ronja Paulina
Ronja Elisa

Do you know anyone with the name? Is it common where you live?

It's a pretty new name here (because of Astrid Lindgren's book) so I think it is a little childish ( I've never heard of an adult Ronja). I really like it, though.

I like Ronja Paulina and Ronja Cecilia.

I like Ronja. It has a strong connection to Astrid Lindgren's (the Swedish author) book here in Germany. Every child knows this name. I wouldn't use any nickname on Ronja.
From your list I like Ronja Sofia & Ronja Elisa best.

The author, Astrid Lindgren, got the name from a lake, Juronjaure. Of course Astrid wasn't the one who created the name, but it's thanks to her the name has become so popular here in Sweden. It's very popular here and has been for years but I don't know someone personally with the name, but there was a girl in my old school named that.
I don't think Ronja needs a nickname.
Of yours I like Ronja Sofia and Ronja Cecilia.
