Would you pronounce it like Gina?

DH once said he likes Gina, but I don't think it's my style (and we are 0% Italian, as far as I know).

My middle name, along with my mom's, is Jeanne.

Any reactions to Jeanna?
Maybe it would be better in the MN spot, if the spelling is likely to be confusing.

I really don't like it at all. I would pronounce it like Gina, and since Gina has objective existence and Jeanna really is a nonce creation, I'd go with Gina.

To keep your mn going, if you want to, staying with Jeanne would work best for me. Or Georgina, which is wonderful. Or, indeed, Jean. Unless your DH is totally fixated on Gina, I'm sure he can find something else he likes!

My name is "Gina" only spelled Jeana.

Ahh... Did you ever get frustrated with people assuming your name would be spelled differently?

"Jeana" looks more straightforward in pronunciation than Jeanna, I think.

Yeah... People have said my name wrong and spelled it incorrectly, but all in all I love it. The name is obscure and I'd love to see a little girl in the 21st century with the name Jeana.

I adore Jean and I like Gina. The hybrid spelling Jeanna does nothing for me.

Jeanne is wonderful. Why not Jeanne? I think it's time has come to shine as a fn, don't you?

I don't like it

and I wouldn't pronounce it like Gina. My mind keeps sticking on -Anna and wants to pronounce it Gee-Ah-Nah. Either way, I don't really like the name from an aesthetic perspective or with the sound.

If I were to pick a variant of Jeanne, I would probably use Jane, or possibly Jeannette.

I love the sound (I'd say it like Gina, but it took me a second glance-- at first I thought jee-an-a), but I don't like the look. However, since it would be to honor a Jeanne, it makes more sense. I love Gina, though, mostly as a nn for something not Italian, like Virginia, Eugenia, Georgina, Regina, etc.

My first thought it was said Gee-ann-nuh. Then I thought maybe it was said like Gina. It seems somewhat made up also.
