I wouldn't use it because it is what Hindus call their holy scriptures.

I would use Vada.

Agreed.

When I see Veda I automatically say VEEDA (the same goes for Vida). But when I see Vada I think VAYDA.

ditto. And all my Hindu friends pronounce it VEEDA.

There is always Vidya, which I think is lovely.

But Vidya is a totally different pronounciation than Veda or Vada...
