[Opinions] Kitty
Someone I know recently had a baby named Katie, who they have nicknamed 'Kitty', I'm not sure whether it's because her sister can't say Katie properly or not but I thought it was cute. :) WDYT of Katie nn Kitty and Kitty alone?

I love Kitty, and would love to see a Katharine, nn Kitty.

I think it is sweet and can age too because one of my grandmothers is named Katherine and has been called Kitty all her life.

Kitty is by far my favourite nn for all the Catherine names; if it was me, I'd name my baby Katharine or whatever version and use Kitty as a nn. A nn for a nn is ...weird; and I don't think using a nn as an independent given name is a good idea.

I love Kitty, but not as a given first name. I like it in the middle.

I love Kitty, particularly as a nn for Catherine. However, I like it as a stand alone name too.

I'd prefer Katherine nn Kitty. Katie seems a bit cutesy and syrupy to me. I love Katherine. My niece is Cáitríona nn Kitty. I love it! I think Kitty needs a solid name behind it like Katherine, Catherine, Kathleen, Cáitríona, etc.

It's a little too sweet for me. I prefer Katie.

Katie is a nickname itself. I understand that in this case it's been used as a name in its own right, but it is so nicknamey that it doesn't need a nickname! A nickname for a nickname? Just changing one syllable? It seems really pointless.I am fine with Katie but I think it should only be used as a nickname for Katherine. I am fine with Kitty, also, to an extent. It's cute, and it has old-timey charm, but, just like Katie, I think it should only be used as a nickname for Katherine. More so for Kitty, because there is something very childish about it. It's fine to call a baby or a little girl Kitty, but she should have options once she becomes an adult, in case she thinks that Kitty is too babyish to be taken seriously, say, as a professional. I know that I would feel that way, if Kitty were my name. Kitty Carlisle notwithstanding. Although it's entirely possible that nobody here as even heard of Kitty Carlisle!
