A few months after wedding plans had gone underway for Josephine and Magnus' grand affair, Charlotte announces her engagment to Ianto Davies, a Welsh soldier from a well-off family that she had met doing charity work in Yugoslavia. Though a commoner, Ianto is welcomed into the family with open arms--Charlotte's own mother, Alexandra, had been a commoner before her marriage--and the whole family is won over by Ianto's easygoing charm.
Josephine and Magnus, however, are struggling. Since their relationship is a long-distance one, their lack of face time plus the demands of planning a wedding (even though they have no shortage of help) are taking a toll on the couple. After one particularly bad fight, Magnus surprises Josephine with a weekend trip to Capri and they both agree that wedding talk was completely off-limits. It was just what they needed: the warm weather, beautiful scenery, and time spent just being together brings them even closer.
