Book: Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett
DH: Newton Pulsifer (28)
DW: Anathema Device (28)
DS: Halcyon 'Hal' Adam Pulsifer-Device (5)
DS: Freddie Shadwell Pulsifer-Device (2)
DD: Stardust 'Star' Marjorie Pulsifer-Device (0)
Once again, Hal proved his expertise as a baby early warning system, excitedly informing his clueless mother one chilly morning that he wanted to help name his sister. Though Newt and Anathema were a bit shocked to hear that they were expecting another child, both were thrilled to be getting a little girl.
The happy parents agreed that the baby's middle name would be Marjorie after their good friend Madame Tracy. Hal was granted his request to help with the first name, beind told that, since Freddie had been named after a British music great, his little sister should be as well. He spent many afternoons chatting with Adam Young, who had turned into a bit of a music expert. Hal himself had apparently turned into a David Bowie fan and set his heart on naming his sister after Ziggy Stardust. Newt and Anathema had no luck talking the boy out of his choice; he was kind of an oddball, but no one expected any less from a Pulsifer-Device child. And compared to his brother, who seemed incapable of shutting his mouth for even a second and babbled and shrieked and laughed nonsensically about whatever popped into his tiny ginger head, Hal was almost downright normal; mostly, he just broke appliances and reassembled them in useless and unrecognizable ways.
Little Stardust Marjorie Pulsifer-Device made her debut several weeks early, at a most inopportune moment. The whole family had gone to Adam's school to watch him and his friends act in a play that he'd written (it was a bit Faustian but overall quite hilarious and profound); Anathema's water broke during the intermission. From that moment on, Star was their little drama queen; she always had to be the center of attention, and she wouldn't stand for being ignored for even a second. Taking care of her turned out to be even more exhausting than having had to deal with Freddie's incessant screaming and Hal's constant breaking of electronics. However, Star was a gorgeous child, all big blue eyes and pouty pink lips and silky black hair. And, when she was getting her way, she was quite sweet and lovable.
