Jane is a favorite name of mine and I used to swear I would use it as a name for my first daughter. I'm not sure now...I would be using the name Jane after Jane Bennet my favorite character in Pride and Prejudice.

I absolutely love Jane. If I didn't plan on using John as a middle name, I'd totally use it. It makes me think of someone sweet, appropriately tough and maybe a little artsy.

To be honest, I don't like. I think it's too old and just too classis for my liking. It is nice and sweet but I think it's rather dated.

Simple and sensible... not overdone at present. Not a fave, but likable enough. Makes a great mn.

Brilliant name, too often wasted in the mn position. Jane Bennett is a wonderful person, as is Jane Eyre actually! Go for it.

I actually love it! It's just a beautiful, classic name that will always sound gorgeous imo. I love the Pride and Prejudice connection too, very sweet.

I think it's a lovely name. It's so simple but sophisticated and wonderfully 18th century. Jane Bennett, exactly. I'd love to see a little Jane.

I really love Jane. It is so simple and sweet. I know many people feel its very generic but I have only known a handful of Janes and the two I know well are so larger than life and such beautiful people that I can't possibly see their name as boring.

I can't imagine thinking of Jane as boring! It must be a generational thing, though. I only ever knew one Jane and I went to one of the largest schools in my country, so it always has seemed nice and underused to me.

No, I don't believe it's a generational thing. There was only one Jane in my high school. Although I am quite a bit older than most of the posters here, Jane wasn't particularly popular at the time of my birth, either.

It's a nice name, but not one I'd use due to two bad associations. In fact, I've never met a Jane I have liked, but I do find the name appealing on paper.

I love it. Jane Austen, Jane Bennett, and Jane (my pastor who died of cancer last year) are the associations I have with the name. Hearing it makes me feel peaceful.
