[Opinions] What is your favorite English nickname for Elizabeth?
Which nickname is your favorite? Or do you prefer Elizabeth?
Replies
Beth is probably my favorite now, though for a while I really liked Liz Beth. I also have a soft spot for Betty, because that's what my grandma's called. I want to name one of my daughters Elizabeth Susan, after my grandmothers. I would use Beth but perhaps once in a while I would call her Betty Sue.
Lily always seemed odd for a nickname for Elizabeth; I prefer it on its own.

I love Elizabeth in full, but I also love a lot of its nicknames.
My sister is named Elizabeth, and she goes by Beattie. This sort of just happened, and it's not my favorite, but I like it for her.
My favorite nickname is Eliza, definitely. However, I also really love Lizzie and like Betsy, Bess, Libby and Beth.

Betty
I am putting in a vote for Betty, which I think has retro type charm and is due for a comeback.
My least favorite is Liz. Yuk! Liz is why I probably wouldn't use Elizabeth.

Ditto on Betty having a kind of retro charm. I'm surprised it hasn't come back already.

Nell
Which isn't traditionally used for it, but could certainly work for the same reason it's used for Helen, Ellen, or Eleanor.
My second favorite is Lizzie, and others I like are Ellie, Beth, Bess, Libby, and Lily.
Oh, and I don't really count Effie as a nn for it, but I have heard of it used. If I counted it, it would be my favorite.
