I wouldn't let the Illiad association throw you off. I really like the name Ursula, despite the sea-witch association, for example.
To be honest, if I saw Paris Lastname, my first thought would be a girl. However, I wouldn't go as far as to say it's "parental cruelty". Maybe use Paris as a MN instead.
