quite like it

Despite the Sanford and Son association, I still like it quite a bit. Although I don't think I'd ever use it as first name.

I have two Esthers in my school, both are Jewish and red-heads in fact. And one of them is from Russia. I love Esther though the sound put me off at first. It makes me think of a pretty red-head girl. A couple of months ago I was told my dad has a half-sister named Esther. Personally though, I'd use Hadassah instead. It's even more underused yet really pretty.

I love the name Esther and have always loved the Biblical story of Esther as well. I actually have a gorgeous little niece with this name and she will be 2 years old in August. Not a name you hear all that often, so sounds refreshing and pretty to me. I also love the fact that it means 'star', as I've always been fond of looking up at the stars.

I love it. It has an Old World kind of beauty and dignity to it. I imagine Esthers as being very smart.

I think Esther is surprisingly sexy when you say it out loud. It's a grandma name, but a young Esther could rejuvenate it, make it pretty again.

There's an 8th grader at my school named Esther. I always thought it sounded weird when I called on her. I also don't like Esther from the old testament so I wouldn't name someone after her.

I like it, but I probably wouldn't use it. It makes me think of Easter

I've never been able to like the sound of it, and it reminds me of polyester. I really like Estelle though.

I went an Esther love phase a while back. I still like it a lot. My great aunt was called Esther (her sisters were Sarah and Mary) and I think that's part of the reason for my liking it as much as I do.

I like its sound, its meaning and history. For many reasons this name is very meaningful to me. And I don't know why but it makes me think of teal, blue and green colours.

This is not a name I would give to my daughter, but it's probably what I'd choose if I had to rename myself. I'd make a great Esther.

I like it a lot. It's not at the top of my "must use" list but if my future husband really liked it I'd definitely consider it. There's a missionary couple from my church that has a daughter named Esther. I think she's about 7.

I like it. It's very understated and refined.

I rather enjoy it. Bleak House and Scallagrigg both contain fascinating Esthers, and it's more distinguished than Hester and streets ahead of the flabby Estelle.

I'm such a chemistry major. I want to like it, but all I can think about are the chemical compounds called esters. I think it would be great to meet a little Esther. I think I could come around to idea. It's actually kind of sweet, it's got a fairly soft sound, despite the sharper elements.

I love Esther, the meaning is very beautiful.

I think it looks okay on paper, but I met a young woman named it once, and ... well, it seemed ugly and nerdy. Even though she wasn't.
