Help[Surname] Vardeman/Vardaman?
This surname has come up in my research on my family tree. I believe the two different spellings to be an error. Anyone know any history on the surname?

Dear Sir: Please see the Vard(a,e,i)man family website for a better understanding of the Vardeman family name. I have found many historical documents with the three spellings in one document. Some early Swedish records include Wer de Man, the German spelling of the name. http://www.treespot.net/index.htm

The first bearer of this surname was Johann Wilhelm Vardeman from Sweden but the variant Vardaman was used from the beginning as you can see at http://awt.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:2287334&id=I22640.
