[Opinions] Stella
I know this name is popular in some parts of the world, but I live in California, and I don't think I've met a Stella my entire life. I used to dislike it, but now it's grown on me...it's sort of pretty, but brash at the same time. I can see a Stella refusing to take crap from people.
So, WDYT? On a scale of 1-10, with 1 being, "it sucks!" and 10 being, "it's great!", how would you rate it? Do you know anyone named Stella? Finally, can you think of any good combos? Thanks, guys. :)

I know a Stella Elizabeth in her 60s and a toddler Stella whose full name should be Stella-Marie Bartlette but possibly isn't.
I'd give it a 9 if not a 9.5.
Stella Marianne; Stella Christine; Stella Josephine; Stella Felicitas.

I give it a 9.
I absolute love this name and have for years.
It's soft and solid all at once.
It has class and sass. Stella could be a debutant or a softball pitcher.
Stella is classic and it fits in modern trends as well.
My favourite combo is Stella Juliet. (My personal favourite name is Estella and my favourite combo has been Estella Juliet for years.)

It's one the list with Victoria and George as names I cannot stand.

I know two Stellas. One's a session drummer who's worked all over Europe and is immensely cool. The other is a friend's mother who I wished I could borrow sometimes as a kid because of her awesome stylishness and take-no-crap attitude. So yup, I like it, I concur with your findings, and think Stellas rock.

Stella Constance
Stella Carmen

I'm tempted to say 1, but it really isn't a bad name. I even had a good friend in high school with that name. She was an exchange student from Brazil. But I just really dislike the sound of it.

It's because you imagine Elaine from Seinfeld bawling "Stellllllaaa" isn't it.
Heehee
Perhaps that has something to do with it!

Apparently there are 7,381 people with the first name Stella in California. And I have a feeling it'll make it to top 50 next year (it went from not charting in 1997 to # 126 in 2009 and it's still on the rise).
I'd give it a 5. I'm not a fan, but it's a nice classic, normally spelled, familiar, not weird...
Adding combos:
Stella Flannery
Stella Domenica
Stella Hermione
Stella Ceridwen
Stella Amelie
Stella Bethany
Stella Victoria
Stella Ignacia
Stella Rosheen
Stella Tabitha
Stella Nalani

I've never met a Stella either. At first, I wasn't keen on it because I didn't like the way it sounded. It's okayish to me now, but I can't but think of A Streetcar Named Desire whenever I hear it. (not a bad thing at all, really)
On a scale of 1 to 10, I give it a 6. Here's some combos I can think of off the top of my head: (pardon if the middle names come off as filler-ish)
Stella Frances
Stella Louise
Stella Rosette
Stella Colette
Stella Fleur

I went to high school with a Latina Stella (short for Estella) and no WAY would she ever take any crap from anyone. She was so feisty. But nice too. I mean, I was scared of her, but I was scared of everyone older than me.
I like Stella a lot too. It is apparently really popular but I also don't know any Stellas, and even if I did I might still use it. It has fire for sure, but also a creativity and poetry to it. I also like it as a pet form of Estelle, a name that doesn't get much attention. I like that you have the classy, collected Estelle when you want to be formal, but can pull out the fun cha-cha Stella when you want to kick back and relax. I give Stella a firm 9.5.
I know it doesn't really work, but I like Stella Celeste. It's so slippery and shining, a gliding goldfish in a round glass bowl.
I also like :
Stella Juliet
Stella Judy
Stella Blanche
Stella Ruth
Stella Pearl

I love Stella Jane, Stella Rose, and Stella Josephine. Very pretty.
I love Stella - it's an 8 for me. My husband on the other hand thinks it's a hooker name. You are right it is ballsy but also has a starry romantic feel.
A friend of mine is called Stella - she doesn't go by it though, she is known as Brenda.

For me, Stella would rank as a 9. I like it for the reason I like my guilty pleasure, Ursula: It sounds powerful. I picture a lady who has a distinct personality and is no pushover. She's not a mean person, just a self-assured one.
I don't know any Stellas, although I did meet a freshman named Star back in college (around 1998).
Not sure about combos. But Astrid gives me the same vibe as Stella....

I'd use it and rate it 8/10 or 9/10. It's not popular where I am. I think I've come across one Stella (Italian, must be in mid 30s by now) in my life.
