[Opinions] Marjorie?
A while ago, I came up with the name Frances Fern and I'm still very fond of this combo.
Then I was trying to find names for a sister to Frances Fern; names that have a similar feel or vibe or something like that.
And all of a sudden, I thought: Marjorie! The other day, however, I started a poll on Marjorie - and she had quite a rough time. She certainly didn't get much love.So now my questions are:
Is Marjorie really that bad?
What do you think of Marjorie?
Does Marjorie have a similar feel to Frances Fern?
Do you think she complements Frances Fern?
Any combo ideas?
Thanks in advance!

:DOh, I love Marjorie! It's so very sweet and smiley and bright! I'm always so surprised by how little love it gets around here, too. I've always sort of liked it. A girl in my first grade class had a little sister named Marjorie, which is where I first heard it.I think Marjorie goes with Frances Fern wonderfully! They're both upbeat. But Marjorie is more open while Frances Fern is more internal, if that makes any sense to anyone else. So they do complement each other quite well.Oh geez, I don't think I've ever come up with a good Marjorie combo...
Marjorie Agnes
Marjorie Cora - I really like this! And I like this the best with Frances Fern.
Marjorie Ellen
Marjorie Laura
Marjorie Maeve
Marjorie Pearl
Hmm.

Frances Fern is cool. Marjorie makes me think of Little Britain a lot. And of margarine. It's alright, though, I'd be pleasantly surprised to see it on a young person. They go together but Frances is more hip while Marjorie is still not stylish. I'd use it if I liked it. I think it might come back.

Marjorie isn't bad at all! I love it.What do you think of Marjorie?
It's my great aunt's name and she is really dear to my mom so I have really good associations with it. Does Marjorie have a similar feel to Frances Fern?
Yes it does. Fun thing, Frances is also a family name.Do you think she complements Frances Fern?
I do.Any combo ideas?
Marjorie Alice is my great-aunt's name, but for you I think something like Marjorie Pearl or Marjorie Opal would be darling.

Aside from the fact that Marjorie was the name of the trash heap on Fraggle Rock (and the individual the fraggles went to for wisdom) and Marj Simpson might be an association for some, even though it's nms, I don't have a prob. w/ it. My real life association w/ the name is a good one because of the Marjorie I know who's pretty cool and if I didn't already have a good mum, I would've adopted her 'cause she's awesome. Did a great job w/ the 3 God gave her. (one of those mums who taught her children responsibility and then expected her kids to use that responsibility rather than hovering all the time, so they had a lot of freedom and made good choices)
As for Frances Fern, I'm not a fan of the 2 Fs together. Frances Marjorie or Marjorie Fern might work.Anyway... potential combos for any of the above likes (Frances, Fern or Marjorie)... Let's see. Pair them w/ ay of these you like.Girls:

I wouldn't say Marjorie is bad at all. I think maybe people didn't like it on the poll because of the Marge Simpson association. (and even if then, I don't see anything wrong with the association)Personally, I find the name kind of charming, but I don't like it enough to use. I had a great-aunt named Marjorie; I wish I got to now her better so I could have something to associate this name with.Marjorie does kind of sound like a "Frances Fern" type of name. Although the mature sounding Marjorie looks noticably different than the quirky and more youthful Fern. (at least, that's how I see it)

Is Marjorie really that bad? - Yes. I think it sounds too much like margarine, which is an unpleasant association for me as I do not like margarine. What do you think of Marjorie? - Marjorie reminds me of a supressed 50's/1960's housewife addicted to benzodiazapine.Does Marjorie have a similar feel to Frances Fern? - Yes. I don't like the name Frances either - Fern however is lovely.Do you think she complements Frances Fern? - Marjorie does complement Frances Fern in that they have a similar feel to them... Alas - I cannot say I like that feel.Any combo ideas?
Ummm, all that aside, I think Majorie May or Marjorie Faye would go well as a combination.

I actually just met a Marjorie last month (exact same spelling). She's 18. It suited her perfectly fine & she doesn't seem to have any trouble with it. It is a family name for her, and her name is Marjorie Jean, I think. Not sure on the spelling of the middle name. I definitely can see Marjorie as a sister to Frances Fern. I feel like Marjorie needs a less stuffy mn to make sure the combo feels youthful & modern.Marjorie Hazel
Marjorie Claire
Marjorie Catherine
Marjorie Sophia
Marjorie Winifred
Marjorie Kathleen
Marjorie Adelaide
Marjorie Corinne
Marjorie Leona
Marjorie Camille
Marjorie Lorraine
Marjorie Elaine
Marjorie Temperance
Marjorie Evelyn
Marjorie Augustine

I suggested Marjorie during my first pregnancy, and DH said "She'd be born ready middle-aged". I still like the sound, but maybe it's a name that needs to wait in the wings for a while longer.I like Marjorie and Frances together, and actually know a sibset with those names! There's a third sister, Christine.I can't warm up to Fern, I'm afraid, and it's too fizzy and frothy and ef-y with Frances. Try Marjorie Fern and Frances Someonelse: Frances Angela as a combo has the same retro feel as Marjorie.
