[Opinions] Opinions on Annegret
Very German, very pretty, and very unheard of in my neck of the woods. I've always had a soft spot for this name, but what do you think? My friend says it sounds "angry", but I never got that kind of vibe from it.Oh, and as usual, can you think of any good combos? Thank you in advance. :)

I can sort of see how it might appear harsh to some - that "gret" ending does look like it is a little gutteral. And also the A-N-G-R in there nearly spells out "angry" - just one scary Y away! Buuuuut if you add just one more letter, you also get Anne-GREAT.But nevertheless it is a crisp little darling of a name. I love how folksy-German it is. I'm not sure what type of vibe you're wanting to ride for it, but I'm just going to give you some randomly-occurring combos I think of.Annegret Louisa / Annegret Louise
Annegret Elise / Annegret Eliza
Annegret Lenore
Annegret Nora
Annegret Victoire
Annegret Armande
Annegret Maia (in honour of Anne-Great)
Annegret Mimi

It's my cousin's name. I like it, it's sweet and underused. How do you pronounce it? I live in Germany and say AHNN-neh-grayt. I also like Annelie (AHNN-neh-lee).

I like Annegret in spite of the fact that it reminds me of "an egret." I don't pronounce the two the same way. It's more of a visual similarity. But in any event, I'm still drawn to the name. It has a down-to-earth, still-waters-run-deep appeal. Perhaps the egret association is a plus. :-)Annegret Sylvie

Well, I'm always tempted to read it as "an egret". It's all right, but I'm not really crazy about most German names.

Maybe not angry, but it feels "feeling-y"...full of feeling? I think it's that it reminds me of regret. I like the idea of Anne___, but not so much the gret part. Also don't like Annabelle. Annelies perhaps?

Sounds too much like "vinaigrette". Wouldn't want to name my baby after a salad dressing.

I like it too, but only in German: in English I'd expect people to cut it down to two syllables, which would be dire. Perhaps it might be safer to tweak it into Annagret, which would work in German too.Annegret Mary; Annegret Sigrid; Annegret Sophie; Annegret Brenda? I never thought I'd find myself recommending Brenda, but it sounds good.
