[Games] The Mac Naoimhím-Rowan Family

UN: Siân
LN: Mac Naoimhím-Rowan
DH: Carbrey Declan (34)
DH: Jude Rory (29)
DS/DD/DS: Tiernan Alexander / Britta Liana / Shea Riley (3)
Pet: Zara (Fennec Fox) “We were pretty close when I was a young boy. My dad was entirely too business minded to be creative. He never understood me musically.” Carbrey explained as he placed his razor and shaving cream into the bag on the counter.“What about your mom?” Jude asked as he put five toothbrushes into their travel cases.“She always supported me.” Carbrey shrugged, “However, it‘s a good thing I don‘t remember lullabies as an infant or I probably would’ve been too scarred to ever do music in my life. My mom sings like an attacking walrus.”“You say that out of love?” Jude asked, eyes wide and playful.“The purest,” Carbrey smirked. His look saddened when spoke up and said, “My grandfather bought me my first guitar. He could play, but he was better at piano. And when I wrote my first song, I played it to him first. You know, some little rhymey tune about a girl who didn‘t love me or something.”“A girl?” Jude questioned.“Oh, come on, I was ten. Even I didn‘t know I was gay then.”Jude smiled and then looked to meet Carbrey’s dark brown eyes. “He sounds like a great person.” And Carbrey didn’t have to reply for Jude to know he really was.

(^^Triplet suitcases.)
They took them to Scotland, but they didn’t actually take the triplets or Zara to the funeral. They figured the children were too young to understand and the fox would have been completely out of place. Carbrey hadn’t seen his grandfather in six years, but he still cried when they buried him. He should have came home for holidays. He should have came home to show off the children. He should have came home to just see his family.Jude was by Carbrey’s side when his grandmother tugged them away the next evening, leaving the children alone with Carbrey‘s parents. Carbrey hugged the lady and she held his hand. He was her youngest grandson and he’d gotten away with a lot more than he should have as a child, mostly due to his grandparents spoiling him incessantly. Grandmother Mac Naoimhím was a strong woman with a strong weakness and years ago, it came in the form of a little boy with devious brown eyes. Not much has changed except that the boy isn’t very little anymore. She took the two outside despite the fact that there was snow on the ground and the temperatures were below freezing.

(^^Little Carbrey.)“Your grandfather and I talked a lot about selling this place,” was all she said at first. Carbrey flinched. Some of his best childhood memories were at his grandparents lakeside cottage, but he didn’t have to tell her that. She took a breath and looked at the boys standing side by side. “I figure with those three little ones, you two can make much finer use of it than I can. Besides, it‘s not good for children to stay cooped up inside- even if you do own a penthouse. London is cramped and dirty. At least use this place to get away from it when you need to. Come here if you ever feel too closed in.”

(^^Mac Naoimhím cottage on the banks of Loch Ness.)Just going there on holiday would have been nice, but Carbrey was ready to come home. Jude had stopped modeling almost completely these days. Jude would always have to travel with his music, but at least when he came home now, it would be his real home, with more family than London ever had for him. Jude didn’t fight him on this one and they packed up the triplets and moved to Fort Augustus, right on the dark banks of Loch Ness.“So, did you ever see a plesiosaur growing up?” Jude asked as he stood inside by the window looking out over the freezing loch. He had a mug of hot cocoa in his hand and his breathe fogged up the glass as he spoke.“Oh yeah,” Carbrey smirked, not even looking up from where he was unpacking the box of DVDs. “One ate little Alasdair McKay when I was in primary.” Jude flipped him off.

(^^This is Britta in an outfit that Jude later bought so they could be little Loch Ness monsters.)“Look at Zara!” came a cry and both boys looked up to see Shea pointing at the fox that was exploring the tops of some stacked boxes that had yet to be unpacked.“Wanna look outside?” Jude asked and he motioned Shea over. He picked up the little boy and held him at the window.“Ooowh, cold.” Shea shivered theatrically as he looked at the snow.“I wanna see!” Tiernan called, running over.“Pick me up! Pick me up!” Britta joined in.“Inside voices,” Carbrey reminded and they all began to repeat the same things in whispers. Carbrey dropped the DVDs and went to the window. With Tiernan on his back and Britta on his hip, the whole family watched out the window.“Whassat?” Tiernan asked, bending down and knocking Carbrey in the head.“Aw, kitty, kitty, kitty..” Britta automatically began as a large tabby cat made its way onto their back porch. The tabby jumped onto the window sill and looked at the family expectantly before rubbing up and down the cold window.“Do we have a cat we don‘t know about?” Jude asked and Carbrey laughed. He set the children down and Jude settled Shea down as well.“We can find out,” he laughed and opened the door. Immediately, the cat jumped down from the window sill and came inside like he owned the cottage himself. Zara’s immediate response was the run up the Christmas tree and peek out shyly. Jude laughed, but let her stay (She was the shyest pet he‘d ever come across). The cat rubbed on some boxes for a second before walking into the kitchen, looking behind him every few seconds to make sure they were following. When he reached his destination, he plopped down by the counter and meowed expectantly. Carbrey called his grandmother. Before long, Sir Percival, was a regular visitor. They had found out he lived a few houses down and visited their house every few days or so. Two or three years ago, Grandmother Mac Naoimhím had started letting him in and giving him milk or scraps and now, the cat just downright expected the house’s new inhabitants to do the same. The children loved him. He loved Zara. It had taken a while, but eventually the two learned to be close friends.

(^^After the two made friends.)“I‘m glad we moved,” Jude mentioned one night in January when everyone was in bed except him and Carbrey. “It‘s peaceful here.”“I like my family being so close by,” Carbrey admitted.“I like that they like me,” Jude responded. “They treat me like family.”“You are family!” Carbrey laughed and sat down at the end of the sofa Jude was laid out on. “Besides, the Mac Naoimhím family is so big, they could never mind one more. Or well, four more.”“Speaking of more,” Jude began optimistically, “we have unused rooms upstairs.”Carbrey sat there a second. “What are you trying to say?”Jude just grinned and shrugged his shoulders.
