Aw, definitely retro chic. It's got glitz because of Rita Hayworth, but it's also got quite a soft and pretty sound. I haven't quite warmed up to Beryl yet, but sure, they sound fine as sisters.

I don't like it. I know a Gilda and she used to be a junkie, now she's just an alcoholic. She is kinda fun, but not someone I would name my daughter after. I prefer Hilda

Gilda!

It's a great choice, particularly as it reminds me of just how drop dead gorgeous Rita Hayworth was in the film of the same name.

Gilda and Beryl could definitely be sisters although I'd think Beryl had lucked out. Seriously lucked out. It's a name in the vein of Doreen and Gladys where I live. Not retro-chic, just crusty. Being reminded of Cheryl doesn't help its case with me.

Retro CHIC

I was thinking a lot about Gilda when I went through a mini Gene Wilder obsession. I love how brazenly glitzy it is, how neon over-bright and shriekingly delighted.

Gilda and Beryl for SURE are sisters or at least adventurous roomies in the Manhattan of the 1940's.

Gilda's okay, though it's a little too retro for me. Gilda and Beryl together are too much retroness in the same sibset, though. I'd choose one or the other.

Retro-chic for sure. I will forever associate Gilda with Ms Radner. What a sweetheart she was. The Rita-Hayworth-as-vixen character never really made a dent in my brain one way or the other. So I have nothing but good thoughts when it comes to Gilda.

I love Beryl. I thought I was the only one. I was worried when I met a Beryl from New York (Bronx) who pronounced her name as "burl," one syllable. Huh? It rhymes with Cheryl, right? Apparently not in the Bronx. But I still love the name Beryl. I don't think anyone outside of New York would pronounce it that way.

Gilda and Beryl make a fantastic WWII era duo. Absolutely they can be sisters. Gilda Marion and Beryl Astrid, perhaps?

YAY! I love the idea of a WWII era duo.
Gilda Marion is fanstatic. Glamourous ;-)

But "burl"? Oh no! It never occured to me, not even once, that someone could try a one syllable pronunciation. To me, it always rhymed with Cheryl. Hum.
I was never too fond of Astrid but I rather like the combination of Beryl and Astrid. Cool ;-)
