Gabe and Evie had gone to Japan on vacation with the kids and were visiting a children's musuem when they saw a large group of toddlers and babies with two women and a man. One of the women spoke English very well and complimented Gabe and Evie on their beautiful children. They asked the woman where the children were from, and she told them an orphanage. Gabe and Evie were immediately interested. They had been talking about adopting again and had mentioned the idea of a foreign adoption. They toured the orphanage the next day. That was where they saw the baby they knew would be their daughter. She was tiny, only three days old, and from the moment they all held her they knew. They immediately began the process of adopting her. They named her Takara, which means treasure in Japanese, with the middle name Prima since she was the first daughter they adopted. The process took months, during which they had to go back to the States and leave Takara behind. That was the hardest thing Gabe and Evie had ever done, but it was worth it. Takara, or Kara as Marina nicknamed her, finally came to them when she was five months old. A representative from the orphanage brought her to the US, and Gabe and Evie's entire families were there as a welcome-home committee for her. Kara has settled instantly into her new home and now they wonder how they had ever gotten along without her.
