Lately, I've found myself loving Greek names. This one has stuck with me because it means "violet flower" which I think is lovely.
However, depending on the day, I pronounce it differently. I've tried:

Yan-the
-Eee-an-thee
-Yan-thuh
-Eee-en-thee

Can anyone shed some insight?

I pronounce it 'eye-an-thee'

I've always said YAN-thee, but I think it's actually supposed to be ee-AN-thee.

Either way, I dislike it. It does have a pretty meaning, though.

Well, it's got to be three syllables because of the poem. I say it more like eye-AN-thee (with a th, not a dh), but that's because I would guess it sounded like that in 19th-century English; plus the metre demands it.

I say ee-AN-thee. I'm getting this from the pronounciation on btn for Iolanthe.

I always pronounced it /ee ANTH/. I adore the name. It's been one of my faves forever!
