[Opinions] Sephora
What do you guys think. I know that here in US its a beauty store but I like it and so does the DH which is rare. It is the greek form of Zipporah meaning little bird.
Beside the beauty store association is there any other bad
connections?
Please suggest nn. and combos if you could, or why you dislike Sephora.

It's okay, but I wouldn't use it, because of the store. I can't think of anything else with the name.Nicknames:

I love Sephora!I pronounce it like they did in the 10 Commandments "seph-ra." I think a lot of people are unfamiliar with the beauty store of the same name, so I don't think that would be a problem.

Sephora is a name that you can find on the Bad Baby Names Hall of Shame, thanks to that store. If that store did not exist, I would say go for it. Kind of has a Final Fantasy type flair to it, which I like but that store makes Sephora nearly unusable in my opinion.

agreedIt's like naming your kid Gucci or Porsche because of the store. The sound of the name isn't that bad, though.

I've actually never thought of it as a name, I just completely associate it with the makeup store. Now that I think of it like that, it's beautiful! However, people living in the US might find it odd, which is too bad since it has such a pretty sound and meaning. Maybe Sapphira? Zipporah itself is pretty as well.Sora, Sori, Sephi, Effie (long shot)Sephora Juliet

Sephora Rose (although Rose is typically a 'filler', I really love it here)

Well, I really love Zipporah. Sephora, not so much. I just can't get away from the association with the store. Plus I love the name Zippy for Zipporah. It's by no means a bad name, though, and I'm sure plenty of people aren't familiar with the store. Using another spelling like Seffora or Sepphora would probably help cut down associations with the store, too.

I love Sephora! To be honest, I only recently realized there was a beauty store by that name, so I don't even really think of it. I first came across Sephora when trying to find a full name for the nn Sephi/Sephie/Sephy. Sephie is one of my favorite comic book characters (Meridian from CrossGen), though in her case it is a nn for Persephone.

Sephie ("Seffy") ... Phora? There are no good short forms. That'd chill me on it, even if not for the beauty store.

like Sephie! So that doesn't bother me.
