[Opinions] Louisa?
Hello!
When I was in spanish class in school my name was always Luisa. The teacher suggested it in 4th grade and I always just used it after. I always liked the name but like the spelling Louisa better. I spose it'll always be linked to Louisa May Alcott...Little Women wasn't my favorite book but I didn't hate it lol. Anyway, I've always liked the name, been a fave for a long time, and was wondering what people think of it. Too dated? I like that it's unusual without being popular. Plus I think the nick name Louie is cute, and do you think the nick name Lousie/Lusie/Lucy is too much of a stretch cause I've always liked that name too! lol The only other concern I had is that my name is Laura so would Laura and Louisa be too matchy? Combos I like are: (heads up, I like mn that honor friends/fam)Louisa Jennifer (for my mom!)
Louisa Erin (for a friend)
Louisa Emily (for my sister)
Louisa Emilia (another version)
Louisa Juliet
Louisa Elizabeth
Louisa Autumn
Louisa Rosalie any others? on another note...I just realized this is my flowery name choice, I also like Amelia, Magnolia, Daniella, Sofia, Noelle, Anna but it's funny cause I also like harsher names like Taylor, Schuyler, Phoebe, Matilda, Heidi, Phillipa, Teagan, etc. Anyone else find the vary between these two or are people's faves stay more to one side?anyway, any thoughts would be helplful! thanks!~Laura

Louisa is a nice classic. Not a favourite, but still lovely. I don't think Laura and Louisa are too close, especially since it would be her mothers name, not her sisters. From your combos, I think I like Louisa Juliet and Louisa Emily best. I just think they flow the best. They all sound lovely though, except for Louisa Erin, which I don't think flows to well.:)

I far prefer Luisa to Louisa. Why? because I say Luisa as loo-ee-suh and Louisa as loo-weez-uh.Elizabeth and Rosalie are my fave mns for this.

Does everone? I like the loo-ee-suh pronouncaition better but the Louisa spelling. Can I pronounce Louisa loo-ee-suh?

I LOVE the name Louisa! I'm always surprised that it isn't more popular. If I had to use a nickname I'd probably use Louie. Of your combos, Louisa Juliet is my favourite.

I adore Louisa. In fact, if I were to ever have another dd, her name would likely be Louisa. Even my dh approves. ;-) The only thing we disagree on is the mn. He likes Louisa Jane and I'm more into Louisa Madeleine or Louisa Marigold. I don't find it dated at all since I've only met one in my entire life (and that was last fall). Of your list, I really like Louisa Juliet and Louisa Rosalie but I understand the appeal of Louisa Jennifer. Other suggestions: Louisa Claire and Louisa Margaret.Re: the nn, I'd probably go with Lulu or just Lou. Lucy is a bit of a stretch but if you really like it, you might just consider Lucy since it is a full name and it sounds great with Juliet and Jennifer.Re: the alliteration with Laura, I wouldn't worry about it. Life is too short ...

I love Louisa. I think it's a beautiful underused classic! Louisa Emily and Louisa Jennifer sounds lovely!I think most people have a variety of names in their repertoire of favorites. Sisters named Amelia and Schuyler may not go together, but who really cares? I've found that most families names rarely "fit" together nicely.

I agree: Louisa is gorgeous and romantic. You're right that the O adds a little something to the spelling. Louisa Emily and Louisa Juliet are my favorite combos of the ones you listed.

Louisa is beautiful. I don't say it quite the same as Luisa though i like them both. Luisa is loo-EES-a and Louisa is loo-EE-za. I think Lucy could be a nn for it, but it seems odd as they're completely different names to me. Louie is doesn't feel like a girls name to me even as a nn, but I guess it could be cool. Louisa Jennifer, Louisa Erin, and Louisa Autumn are gorgeous. My tastes vary between the two, though I lean towards the harsher names more often.

I think Louisa is gorgeous! Not too close to Laura at all. Louie is a cute nn-- it's fun. I think Lousie et al. are fine for nns, too. I'll also suggest Lula and Lilou as nns.Louisa Emily is by far my favorite combo in that list! I think Louisa Jennifer would be nice to use, and Louisa Juliet is really pretty.I have a big variety of names I like. The ones at the top that I'd actually use tend to be stronger feminine names. I am not prone to liking frilly names, but there are some that I enjoy.

I like it a lot. I like Laura too, and think they sound nice together and not too matchy at all. Louisa Emily is adorable.
My former next-door neighbour's daughter was a very cute little Louisa called Louie. She's probably about 9 or 10 now, so I can totally see it on a small child.

Louisa is great, and I also prefer this version to Luisa. I don't think it's too dated. I could definitely see Louie, Lucy, or Lou as nicknames. And I don't think it's too matchy with Laura, especially as Laura wouldn't be a sibling's name. From your list, I like Louisa Emilia, even if it is a bit sing-songy. I guess I like Louisa Emily, too. It seems like a tough name to pair mns to.
