I saw the name Aaliyah and thought it was stunning. Then it hit me because that spelling is pronounced uh-lee-uh. But I'm in *love* with the pron. uh-lie-uh. What's the best (it's gotta look like a nice spelling too) if it was to be pronounced uh-lie-uh?

I thought of Eliyah, but now that I've heard of it, I like Alaia better since it's a real name with history and etymology and all that good stuff. :)

My cousin almost used that name and was going to pronounce it uh-lee-uh but I thought it looked like uh-lie-uh too. I think it already is a good spelling for uh-lie-uh but won't get called that so I'm thinking:

Alaiah is the best I can come up with... or maybe Alaia so it doesn't look like the end should be prn like the end of Isaiah.

ETA: Wait, Alaia is an actual Basque name pronounced like you like! I've never heard of it until I just saw it in the database!

How about Alaia? It's a Basque name that means "joyful, happy."
