Princess Ephemeral was born only shortly after the stroke of her father which left him mostly paralyzed. Princess Ephemeral dies within the week, after being born at only seven months, and badly deformed. After the Emperor's stroke, Princess Gwynn is crowned Empress, in order to do what is best for the Empire.
Emperor Finnian and Empress Mattie are to act as Regents until Empress Gwynn is old enough the care for the Empire on her own.
Empress Gwynn is then engaged to Baron Kaspar Nickolaus Fritz. The Emperor Finnian has a second stroke shortly after, and then dies.
Empress Gwynn is married, but will not consummate the union until she is old enough to rule on her own. The Dowager Empress Mattie continues to act as Regent and teaches the heir as best she can to manage the day to day happenings of the Empire.
