Well....I hate Benjamin and I hate the nickname Ben. I don't hate Jamie, although I think it's too feminine sounding for a boy. But it's an improvement over Benjamin and Ben, so I will say sure, it's acceptable.

Kind of wonder, though, if one wants a Jamie, why one wouldn't just use James.
