Help[Opinions] Birdie
I have seen the girls name Birdie around a lot lately. First I saw it on a few old fashioned names lists and then I saw it in a book the other day. I am really starting to love Birdie as a name! I think it's very old fashioned and cute! Do you think it could work as a first name? Or is it better off as a middle name or nickname for something (suggestions?)

I loved the book, "Catherine, Called Birdie" growing up, so I approve.

Nickname for Bridget, perhaps - or for Avis. Or, indeed, for the more surprising bird names that are turning human: Lark, Raven etc.

It works as a nn for someone w/ the last name Bird and the only person I've known to answer to that was an Aussie MAN... not a litle girl.

I've always loved Birdie. I like it as a first name, but I think it might work better as a nickname. You could use it for any -bert- name, like Alberta, Roberta, or Bertha. I can't say I care for any of those names, though. Hmm...what about Bridget?

I like Birdie as a nickname for Bernadette or Bernadine.

Only as a nickname. And if today's children have ever heard of the musical "Bye Bye, Birdie"...

Birdie is really cute, though perhaps not substantial enough to work as a full name. It could be a nn for Bridget or one of its variants I suppose.
