I've never heard Ariel as masculine before, and I think it's too commonly feminine to use on a boy. Maybe if it was spelled a different way I wouldn't mind?

I love Ira, it never occurred to me as girly before you suggested it, but I guess it does sound a bit like Isla. I would still use it though.
