[Facts] what does my name mean?
I'm a 36 year old white female and "What does my name mean?", is a question I get asked alot. All I can say is that is was the name of a girl in a Johnny Horton song my dad liked. Actually the girls name was Kaye Jelena, but my mom didn't like it and did an ol' switch-a-rue to Jelena Kaye. I haven't met anyone baring the same name and it would be nice to find out what the meaning of it is. Thank you and good luck.

If you pronounce your name ye-LE-na, then it is the Serbian and Russina equivalent of Elen/Helen=sun (Greek)

I can only speculate that Jelena -- pronounced Yelena -- may be a Russian or some European version of Helen. Maybe our friend Eagle Beak 2 could advise us once he retracts his head from where the sun dont shine. Follow the hotlink to find more on Helen :)

My mom told me I am named after a saint from Serbia and Russia where my family is from, over there it is an extremely popular name like ashley here, almost everyone is named jelena. I thought I was the only person in the united states by the name of Jelena. Oh yes and it is pronounced Yelena-HHHelena turning out to sound like Elana but prettier with a little role on the "L"
