Just before little Beatri's second birthday, a messenger came from G'iph with sorrowful news. Prince Samir's youngest brother, Kadar, had died of a sudden illness, and his widow, heavily pregnant, had given birth prematurely. The baby boy managed to survive, but the mother had expired. Samir was quite distraught that Kadar and his wife had died so suddenly, and he forgot all about the young boy's presence until Vaza gently requested that the child be adopted. Samir was more than surprised at first, but when he consented to travel with Vaza to G'iph to check on his family (leaving Beatri with Giovan and Frieda, where she will be free to play with Jelisa), Samir could not refuse his wife's petition. Thus Samir and Vaza adopted their nephew, Malik Arsène Julep Kadar, or Master Malik. Malik and Arsène were names previously chosen by Kadar and his Frenchwoman wife, while Vaza chose to give him the name Julep after his adoptive father, and Samir added Kadar after his birth father. Together they raised little Malik from a wailing infant to a happy, healthy boy.
Just a while after Malik's addition to the family, the High Priestess Zubia announced yet another pregnancy! Everyone was surprised at this, since as far as they're concerned Zubia and Michael are done with children, but the news was a happy one. A Sul'i'ah was born nine months later, named Verina-Isla, but most often called Verisla.
A month or two after Zubia announced her pregnancy, the Sul'i'mi Desmon returned from another of his trips with his mentor after a delay at a port due to the rough seas. Éabha was overjoyed to see him return, and it was no shock that in a while she, too, was pregnant again. Their daughter, Aquilina, is yet another member of the royal family to be named after the Dowager Valen's wife's family (the first being Sul'i'mi Ezio "the younger", the second Master Suvio, named after the late Federico Auditore, the third Lady Gia, named after Cecilia Auditore herself). Ezio (the elder) felt that Desmon has done too much and tried to dissuade him from taking the choice, but Desmon refused vehemently, and thus Lady Aquilina, or Ilina, was named.
Sul'i'mi Ezio the younger and his wife Honora had had their own son, Moonlight, or Master Moon. The Dowager Valen was a bit concerned with Moon's names, as none of those have been names according to the Cra'don's usual traditions, but has decided it best to remain silent. Arlet and Dorian are happy for their siblings-in-law, but are quietly wondering when their turn to have children will be.
