Life was as quiet as it could be for the imperial family. Caderyn and Liesbeth, after trying for years, discovered that Caderyn's early and sickly start has made him infertile. It was hard for them to accept, but they are taking solace in their many nieces and nephews and their two dogs, Captain and Bandit. Matilda and Aaron added twin daughters to their son, and like Orion made sure their names were different. Their first daughter they named Melody Cadence, for their mutual love of music, and the second they named Willow Rowan, for the trees areound the pond they love best. They also gave them names to honor Caderyn, who had a hard time accepting that he could not give Liesbeth children. Guilietta and Owen are busy with their two active children, as are Remus and Natasha with their one daughter who is like a dozen. The two families spend a great deal of time together, and the children are as close as siblings. Rose recently appointed Lucian head of the Imperial navy, as some trouble with factions meant they needed his expertise at home. He misses traveling, but is also glad he can spend more time with his family. Aida was thrilled, and promply got pregnant with Nereus, who they have decided will be their last child. And Rose and Enrique have been feeling nostalgic as Silvia grows up. She looks almost stunningly like her grandmother, which has led to the people calling her "The Secodn Arianna." Things were going well, until the faction that had ben giving them trouble attacked. It was a swift and bloody day of fighting as the group calling themselves The White Army invaded the royal city and took the entire royal family hostage. Their objective was to sieze power and turn the empire into a cummunal state (Communism, basically). The Imperial army as well as the opposition group, The Blue Army, did nto waste time and promptly attacked. For weeks there was fighting and many lives were lost. The White Army threatened at any time to simply slaughter the entire royal family, including the children. Finally, though, the Imperial and Blue Armies overwhelmed them, and the brief conflict was over. The Royal family was safe, but there was much work to be done. Rose and Remus, working with the advisors and the heads of the colonial governments. A decision was reached that was radical, possibly dangerous, and definately unexpected. The Lethian Empire was dissolved. It was discovered that while the leaders of the White Army wanted one huge communal state, they gained followers by promising to end Lethian domination over their lands. So, following the precedent set by her mother, Rose granted freedom to every colony in exchange for peace and trade treaties. The colonies chose their own government system and leaders. There were a few of the smaller colonies adjacent to Lethia that negotiated to remain part of Lethia, but this was the choice of the leaders (and people) be casue they had been Lethian so long they no longer felt like a seperate entity (plus, most of them were so small they couldn't support an economy on their own). This was allowed, but these were simply incorperated into the new Kingdom of Lethia. Changes are being made in the government of the new Kingdom as well, expanding the role of the Court of Advisors and making it easier for commoners to rise to positions of power. Only time will tell how it will work out, but people are confident.
