In the Kingdom of DunlinKing Frederick VI is dead! Long live King Story I of Dunlin!Dunlin was thrown into upheaval when the children of the Kin Rebellion’s leaders snuck into the Dunlin palace and shot and killed almost all of the Royal Family! Everyone knew the Royals were at the Dunlin palace celebrating Lord Christopher’s 59th birthday. Even the recently-crowned King and Queen of Fwodin were there! The only ones who weren’t in attendance, ironically, were the Empress and Emperor of Kin – they’d had some trouble with their carriage that had delayed their arrival, although this was not common knowledge.Apparently, these rebels had every intention of avenging their fathers and setting up democracies in both Dunlin and Kin, in one fell swoop. However, the Empress and Emperor and their entourage of 100 mounted guards arrived shortly after the Royals had been taken hostage within their own castle. Unfortunately, the Empress and Emperor were not in time to save their family. The rebels knew that they were hopelessly outnumbered and turned their guns on themselves, unwilling to die at the hands of the Royal Guards. The Empress and Emperor were distraught at the sight of the massacre; the rebels had even killed Princess Charlotte’s and Lord Felix’s dogs! The Empress dropped to her knees and wept.Upon the sound of the Empress’ crying, a young servant carrying a little boy appeared from another room. It was Prince Story! Apparently, Prince Story had been fussy and so his nursemaid had taken him into another room. When the screams of the Royal Family were heard, she hid herself in a secret chamber. The Empress and Emperor had their nephew crowned King of Dunlin, and then took him home to Kin, intent on raising the young boy as their own, and grateful to have even this small piece of their family left.
