[Games] Aeronwy's Royal/Medieval Congrats ~ Round The Third (Added another note)
Two years have passed, and all of the rebel meeting and muttering has finally come to a head--a seemingly unimportant skirmish sparked a huge civil war, which has been raging for a year. What were the circumstances that lead to the outbreak of fighting? Where have the nobles aligned themselves, and how are they providing support? Who survives and who perishes?
(Note: It is entirely your decision and completely optional to kill off members of your family. I will only decide the fates of the babies that are born.)
(ETA: I'm also very open to feedback! If any of you have any ideas about which way the plot should go or ideas about characters or anything that you think would be useful/interesting, please post it or PM me. I'd love to hear from you.)

Butler: Andrew Patrick Mullinix ~ deceased at 26

-D: Sandra Morgaine Mullinix (3)

For months Andrew had been trying to hurt, poison and harm the royal family (without their knowledge, of course). He never really got the chance and his tries could've gone on for a long, long time, if it wasn't for Duke Elijah. Duke Elijah had, over some good rum, made a joke about "how the Butler was incapable of even the most simple tasks, like killing the king". Rumor spread fast, and soon the Inquisitor, baron FitzGilbert, were knocking on the Mullinix's door.
Andrew could instantly tell what was about to happen when he saw the baron's face. His last words were: "My wife is innocent, I swear!". Andrew commited suicide by slicing his throat open right after that (nasty blood stains on FitzGilbert's cape). Jocelyn had just sung songs to Sandra, to make her fall asleep, when she heard the noise in the hallway. She went out, and saw her husband dead and FitzGilbert's shocked face.
Baron FitzGilbert could see that Jocelyn was innocent - she looked very pure-hearted and kind. She couldn't even kill a fly. Besides, he had seen her every sunday in church. Of course she had nothing to do with the civil war.
No one really talked about Andrew's death. He didn't get a funeral (FitzGilbert decided to burn his body without the privilege of having a funeral, that was the procedure of traitors to the king), and Jocelyn decided to tell everybody he had left her without saying goodbye. FitzGilbert never told anyone the truth (that he had been one of the rebels), he felt sorry for Jocelyn (he thought it was obvious that such a good Christian wasn't even aware of her husband's deeds).
Soon after that, Jocelyn found out that she was pregnant again. She decided that it wasn't safe for her in the city anymore, and she was filled up with rage (something she'd never felt before). She could no longer work for the queen. What had her husband done? Why did he deserve to die? All she knew was that it was the the royal inquisitor's fault. And the royal inquisitor worked for the royal family, i.e. they had killed Andrew. Rebellious thoughts started to grow...

Baron: George Thomas FitzGilbert, 3rd Baron FitzGilbert & Inquisitor General (36)
Lady: Jane nee Greytonne (19)
Lord: Luke Francis (3)
Lord: Joscelin George (2)
Lady: Godiva Mary (nb)
Angleterra was in a state of civil war... and FitzGilbert could well have been the man caused it. While George had loosen up a little up the birth of his second son, Joscelin, he still remembered the passage of scripture he read to Lord Bartholomew, that a merciless official would be the evil rebels to justice by crushing them.
He traveled to the court of King Henry and let him know what he truly believed the LORD required to bring a peace to the land. Henry, hungry for vengeance there and then declared George to be the Inquisitor General, an official with the power to bring people to bear a truthful testimony by whatever means required.
George, while know as a lover of the people was also known for his devotion to the LORD and to the mortification of the flesh prior to his forced marriage.
George felt the best way to get the truth from people was by forced mortification rituals such as whipping, piercing of the flesh with hot irons and the like... this however didnt go down too well with the rebels in question and word spread of these deeds and soon skirmishes broke out around the country.
At one of these skirmishes, Lord Cartwright died, making the King even more determined to bring those rebels to heel.
After the Duke & Duchess of Solvene were captured, thanks in no small part to their daughter's freely given confession before both the King & Baron FitzGilbert, they were handed over to George for the purposes of having the truth extracted.
George however needed to go home to be with his pregnant wife, Jane. Before leaving he told the Duke that he was the one that had helped their son Stephen marry the common girl Nora.
Once home George tended to his wife as she gave birth to a beautiful and healthy baby girl... Godiva Mary. Jane has taken ill and it is feared she may not survive, especially since her husband is expected back at court to finish the proceeding with the Duke & Duchess, leaving her vulnerable to the general chaotic state of the nation.

Cook: Verena Amika "Amy" Macario (23)
-S: Neven Dragomir Macario (3)
-S: Aksel Konrad Macario (2)
-S: Enric Ferran Macario (d. at 1 yr)
The outbreak of war was understandably stressful for the Macarios. Tensions ran high in the court; Ren had to work twice as hard to get half the laughs while Amy remained hyper vigilant in the kitchen. Delilah of Solvene often helped out. Amy had been wary of the girl's intentions at first but grew to like the young flirt. She was witty and kind and quite good with the children (Neven was a bit infatuated, actually). However, Amy found Delilah's talk of travel and adventure rather frightening; Amy had always been far too afraid to leave her homeland and had never even been more than a few counties from the castle.
Tragedy struck the family when their youngest son Enric, up until then a happy, healthy boy like his brothers, grew very sick. After months of uncertainty, Enric finally died just after his first birthday, which also happened to be when the king had the Duke and Duchess of Solvene arrested for treason. Ren and Amy were far too distraught to care about politics, but both were touched when Queen Morgana reached out to offer the condolences of the royal family.
When asked if there was anything that the queen could do for the Macarios, Amy only requested mercy on behalf of Delilah and her brothers and sisters. Children shouldn't be punished for the sins of their parents, she declared. The queen promised to speak to her husband on the subject but couldn't make any promises: King Henry was still looking for vengeance in the death of their own son. Amy begged Ren to talk to his friends in the carnivals just in case Delilah and the others needed to be smuggled out of the country to avoid retribution.
Growing restless himself, Ren almost couldn't resist when those same friends tried to get him to return to the road. He knew that Amy would never leave Angleterra, but he also didn't know if he would be able to live there any longer, not with the memories of his lost little Enric so sharp and fresh. He thought that Neven and Aksel would enjoy travelling (Amy might, too, if she ever gave it a chance).
Ren and Amy went about their duties with heavy hearts, doing their best to comfort their heartbroken sons and ignore the rift forming in their marriage.

“Better to be feared than love” in the words of Henry has lead to the outbreak of civil war. A year after Henry made the orders to his army to raid the homes of any one suspect, the Kingdom has descended into turmoil. It seems many in the Kingdom were opposed to the way that Henry carried went about things. Many felt personally offended at having their homes raided. Many others who had been suspect were outraged at the torture they had endured at the hands of Henrys men. Others in the Kingdom simply felt that Henry had gone to far, and that their civil rights were no longer guaranteed under the current King. The rebels, therefore, built in numbers.
Soon, War brakes out. The main battles are fought between the rebels and the army. On Henry’s orders, the army was to arrest all and any in suspicion of treason. Villages are raided, burned to the ground; hundreds of rebels flee their homes, now homeless refugees. Those who have pledged their support to the King are determined to eradicate the traitors, and small guerilla groups have formed to target those on the opposition. Henry’s focus is on gathering the rebels. Those found guilty on trial are to be executed. Meanwhile, those loyal to the crown are prospering, Henry is determined to show his gratification to all those who are loyal.
Henry, ever arrogant, believes that the war will come to a swift end soon. After all, the majority of the kingdom’s subjects continue to adore and idolize him, and life in Court is still as festive as ever. During celebrations of Prince Tristan’s 3rd birthday, however, the King was informed of some tragic news. His most trusted advisor, Lord Bartholomew, had been killed in the midst of battle. Beyond grief, and to clear his conscious, the King pledged to support his children, Lady Guinevere and Lord Geoffrey, financially. A statue is built in honor of Lord Bartholomew on the royal grounds. In addition, Queen Morgana has invited Lady Guinevere to court. She will be provided with comfortable lodging within the castle, to be closer to her brother, if she accepts the offer.

Countess: Rosa Maddalena [de Magianis] da Firenze (d. at 26)

A while after the raids have been conducted and the guards have left, Rosa stepped forward to her husband with tears in her eyes. Lately, she has been convinced she was carrying another child, but when the guards pushed her and everyone else to the courtyard, she fell and felt great pain. It seems that something is not right with the baby she is carrying. Months later, a baby boy was born, and Rosa's suspicions was proved. The baby, Leonardo, was small and barely even cried when he was born. Being very weak from the beginning, Leonardo died after one month, much to his family's sorrows.
Especially incensed was Ezio. Declaring that this had gone too far - that he had lost too much - he was resolved to find a better king and avenge his son's death. Rosa tried to convince him otherwise, but when Ezio refused to relent, she decided to support whatever actions he will take, as long as they be wise. Ezio promised her not to do anything rash, and she in return promised her support.
A few months later, civil war broke in Angleterra. Both Ezio and Rosa were very worried about this, and decided to evacuate Villa Auditore for the time being and escape into safety. As they were running away, some archers from the king's side fired towards them, mistaking them for the rebels, and Rosa was struck. While Ezio managed to get Fede, Maria, and Rosa into safety, his wife murmured that she knows he won't be for long. Before nightfall, Rosa had expired from her injury, and Ezio is left forlorn, with two infant children to raise and a vengeance to exact.
Ezio was devastated. Since he had moved to Angleterra four years ago, nothing has stabilised, and things have gotten more and more chaotic. He had lost the wife he loved, a newborn son, and a good lot of his possessions destroyed during the raids and civil war. Ezio wondered vaguely how he would keep Fede and Maria safe, realising that his children will never live the life children should. But he had to make a choice - and a choice he did make.

Duke: Elijah Javan Tobiah of Solvene (50) *Finally remembered to add his land title thing
Duchess: Adina Rhoda Hadassah (43)

Elijah and Adina were thrilled when the civil war broke out last year and were even happier once the level-headed Earl of Cartwright was killed.
They are concerned about their favourite daughter, since she hasn't returned home in two years, but they see her at court often. She usually helps out in the kitchens, which pleases her parents because they believe she is attempting to assassinate the royals.
When Nethanel heard about Earl Bartholomew's death he rode to the castle to find Lady Guinevere only to be told she was at Cartwright castle, after three weeks of hard riding he arrived and attempted to comfort her and Lord Geoffrey. After a long night by the fire he proposed to Lady Guinevere, hoping she would accept him - his Father be damned.
Delilah still maintains the title of court flirt but has been thinking of travelling to Angleterra's neighbouring country in an attempt to escape both the war and Lord Geoffrey's presence.
Stephen has gotten married to his sweetheart, Nora. They have a small house in a city (not the capital) that borders on a large field. Nora rarely gets to see her new husband though and prays nearly every day that God will deliver Stephen home safely to her.
Elijah and Adina are ignoring Stephen and Nora for now, but have not renounced him yet.
Daniel and Dorcas still spend a large amount of time together, and he still raises his youngest sister for their parents. Daniel has been attempting to teach Dorcas how to paint, often taking her out to the swift creek behind Solvene manor to stare at it for hours.
Miriam has been waiting two years for the King and Queen to grant her audience so that she may tell them of the danger her parents pose.
Ariel and Peninnah are still mostly the silly, screaming children they always were but Peninnah is starting to treat her brother like a child because she feels that she is more 'grown-up' than he is.

Another daughter joined Darius, Roland, Zephaniah, Matilda, and Hallelujah. Alethea, called Lettie, is a quite little thing, especially for being a baby. She is tiny. Zephaniah is still soft-hearted toward babies, and is quite drawn to little Lettie.
Since the war broke out, Roland and Darius have been left to themselves. Roland wasn't able to play with Ariel and Peninnah, and Darius wasn't able to go see Miriam. The friendships between Elissa's boys and Elijah and Adina's Miriam, Ariel, and Peninnah have stayed at the same spot they were since the beginning, though some seem to think that Darius and Miriam's friendship is becoming deeper, and possibly something more. Darius doesn't think so, and even if it was, he wouldn't admit it.
Elissa and Hiram are still siding with the king for now. They've heard of some things the king has done that they aren't quite sure they agree with. But they don't want to side with the conspirators, either. Elissa and Hiram aren't neutral, but they are neither side.

Earl: Lord Bartholomew Thomas Xavier of Cartwright (d. 50)
-D/S: Lady Guinevere Beatrix Christiana/Lord Geoffrey Richard Francis (20)
Upon hearing King Henry's plans to rule with an iron first--random raids and secret spies--Bartholomew travels to the castle and attempts to reason with Henry: he would not endear himself to an already uncertain populace by treating them like criminals. Henry, however, adamantly refuses, and nothing Bartholomew says can sway him. Bartholomew leaves, deeply troubled, knowing that this would most definitely lead to uprising. He gathers his modest force of men-at-arms and waits for the inevitable.
Geoffrey, meanwhile, enjoys his time at the castle--being a nobleman knight, he is held in high esteem in court, and under Sir Robert's tutelage, becomes a competent fighter through sheer hard work and determination, but still secretly fears seeing combat. He also finds that he is developing not-so-platonic feelings for his mentor. Disgusted with himself, he attempts to drive those feelings away, though spending so much time with Sir Robert doesn't help in the slightest. Guinevere has taken to riding her horse in the countryside to escape from her worries--with her letters going unanswered, Guinevere had all but given up hope of Nethanel returning her affections, and is deeply unsettled about the unsavory rumors about his family--who knew that such a kind, brave man could come from such odious parents? Guinevere envied Geoffrey, who, as a man and a knight, could do whatever he pleased.
As the year came to a close, Bartholomew's grim prediction came to pass--violence broke out between the two opposing factions on the outskirts of Cartwright, and Bartholomew immediately rode out with his small force when he heard of the fighting from one of the King's messengers. Bartholomew fought valiantly and deftly for a man of such advanced age, but while battling alongside his son, he was stabbed in the back by someone he never saw. Geoffrey immediately ran to his father and dragged him away from the fray. When the skirmish had finally cleared, Bartholomew was near death. Geoffrey rushed him to Cartwright Castle where Guinevere, horrified, ran to collect them. They got Bartholomew into bed and try as they might, they couldn't stop their dear father's bleeding. While Geoffrey had left to get more clean cloth, Bartholomew pulled his only daughter close.

Somewhat OT
From what I know, the Medieval era precedes that of the Renaissance, but isn't Niccolo Machiavelli from the latter time period, meaning that Henry is quoting someone not yet existing?
Never mind, though. I stole my family from their Renaissance setting too.
