Okay, so I've never really thought of Finley as a first name before, because I have a friend whose last name is Finley, and thats what I've always seen it as. But lately, I've reconisderd. Mostly because I adore the name Riley, and i was wondering how it would be like as brothers...

So what are your thoughts on Finley?

And also Rowan... I've seen it around before, never really thought much of it, and then I was looking at this Celtic Wood Calender thing, and saw that my wood is rowan, and then I started thinking about how it would be as a name.

Thoughts?

Also, I've made a combo Finley Rowan George (George would be honouring)... so what do you think of that? And also what combo's would you stick Finley and Rowan in ? (seperate or together)

I hate Finley, but I love Rowan (for a girl). I could take Rowan as a boy, though, and Rowan George is a nice combo. No need to taint it with a name that reminds people of fish.

Finley is my all time favourite boy name. I absolutely adore it.

I quite like Rowan as well.

I usually place Finley in sibsets with Kieran and Niamh, sometimes with Lachlan and Aisling.

I like both names (although I prefer the spelling Finlay). My only concern about using them would be that they are increasingly being used on girls, so they may begin to take on a feminine feel which was never there before.

I prefer Rowan to Finley so I would keep Rowan in the fn spot. Rowan Finley or Rowan Finley George both flow well as combos. From the other names in your sig:

aha thanks! I never actually though of Rowan James... and I love the combos to... Yeah, Rowan I can see sorta working on a girl (would feel sorry for them though).. Finley, there is no way I can see Finley or Finlay working on a girl... Names like Riley & Bailey yes, but I think the 'Fin' part puts me off on the usage for girls...

I agree, but it's happening more and more, especially with the spelling Finley. Finlay is still pretty much only used on boys.

I like both Finley and Rowan on boys. Yay. They'd make perfect brothers, and Finley does sound good with Riley. Rowan not so much, but if you stick Finley in between them it works just fine.

Finley Rowan George is a great combo- flows really well. Thats a keeper.

I really like the sound of Finley Josiah, and I'm normally not a Bibilical name person.. and yeah Morgan in my mind always takes the form of a girl, probably because the only Morgan I know is a girl. But Finley is definatly male!

I really like Rowan Matthias :)

I really like Rowan. I think it's manly - heroic but in a modest, dignified way.

Finley I'm iffy on. It has that trendy -ley ending. Finn is better IMO. More character, not as stylized. I like the combo Rowan Finley better than Finley Rowan =) but F.R.G. Surname flows nicely.

I'm actually really like the idea of Rowan Finley, rather then Finley Rowan... and I'm like them more then I'm liking Riley at the moment... probably coz both Rowan and Finley are partically non existent in Australia and Riley is like 10th, and probably going to creep up higher.

Don't like Finley as a fn at all... and Rowan's kinda ugly as a fn... It's just fine as a surname, but somehow it just seems ugly as a fn and worse on a girl.
George is good.
I wouldn't sticke Finley or Rowan in any combo except as a surname or an extra mn honouring the maiden name of a female relative to keep the name in the fam.

I like Finley! I think it would be too close to use as a brother for Riley though. I like Finley better than Riley.
I like Rowan. SO far it's my first pick for a girl but I like it on boys too.

Yeah I'm actually thinking the same thing about Riley & Finley as sibset... and I'm like Finley more due to the lack of popularity in Australia (I think Riley's at 10th at moment).

I'm liking Finley Rowan Padraig & Finley Nathaniel Rowan out of your suggestions, but alot of the others are nice!
